اللَهُمَّ إنِّي أَخْلَصْتُ بِانْقِطَاعِي إلَيْكَ،

al-laahum-ma in-nee akh-las'-tu binqit'aae'ey ilay-k

1.I showed sincerity by cutting myself off from everything but You.

وَأَقْبَلْتُ بِكُلِّي عَلَيْـكَ،

wa aq-bal-tu bikul-lee a'leek

2.I approached You with my whole self.

وَصَـرَفْتُ وَجْهِي عَمَّنْ يَحْتَاجُ إلَى رِفْدِكَ،

wa s'araf-tu waj-hee a'm-may-yah'-taaju ilaa rif-dik

3.I averted my face from everyone who needs Your support.

وَقَلَبْتُ مَسْأَلَتِي عَمَّنْ لَمْ يَسْتَغْنِ عَنْ فَضْلِكَ،

wa qalab-tu mas-alatee a'm-mal-lam yas-tagh-ni a'n faz''-lik

4.I ceased to ask from any who cannot do without Your bounty.

وَرَأَيْتُ أَنَّ طَلَبَ الْمُحْتَاجِ إلَى الْمُحْتَاجِ

wa raay-tu an-na t'alabal-muh'-taaji ilaal-muh'-taaji

5.I saw that the needy who seeks from the needy

سَفَهٌ مِنْ رَأيِهِ وَضَلَّةٌ مِنْ عَقْلِهِ،

safahum-mir-raa-yihee wa z''al-latum-min a'q-lih

6.is foolish in his opinion, and misguided in his intellect.

فَكَمْ قَدْ رَأَيْتُ يَـا إلهِيْ

fakam qad raay-tu yaaa ilaahee

7.How many people have I seen, my God,

مِنْ أُناس طَلَبُوا الْعِزَّ بِغَيْرِكَ فَذَلُّوا،

min unaasin t'alaboo ali'z-za bighay-rika fad'al-loo

8.who sought exaltation through other than You and were abased,

وَرَامُوا الثَّرْوَةَ مِنْ سِوَاكَ فَافْتَقَرُوا،

wa raamooth-thar-wata min siwaaka faf-taqaroo

9.who wanted wealth from someone else and became poor,

وَحَاوَلُوا الارْتِفَاعَ فَاتَّضَعُوا،

wa h'aawaloolir-tifaaa' fat-taz''au'wa

10.who tried to rise high and fell down low!

فَصحَّ بِمُعَايَنَةِ أَمْثَالِهِمْ حَازِمٌ

fas'ah'-h'a bimua'ayanati am-thaalihim h'aazim

11.Observing the likes of them corrects a prudent man;

وَفَّقَهُ اعْتِبَارُهُ

waf-faqahoo aa'-tibaaruh

12.his taking heed gives him success;

وَأَرْشَدَهُ إلَى طَرِيقِ صَوَابِهِ بِاخْتِبَارِهِ

wa ar-shadahooo ilaa t'areeqi s'awaabihee akh-teeaaruh

13.his choosing the best guides him to the path of right.

فَأَنْتَ يَا مَوْلايَ

faanta yaa mawlaay

14.So Thou, my Master,

دُونَ كُلِّ مَسْؤُول مَوْضِعُ مَسْأَلَتِي

doona kul-li mas-oolim-maw-z''iu' mas-alatee

15.art the object of my asking to the exclusion of all those who are asked

وَدُونَ كُلِّ مَطْلُوب إلَيْهِ وَلِيُّ حَاجَتِي.

wa doona kul-li mat'-loobin ilay-hee waly-yu h'aajatee

16.and the patron of my need to the exclusion of all those from whom requests are made.

الْمَخْصُوصُ قَبْلَ كُلِّ مَدْعُوٍّ بِدَعْوَتِي

antal-makh-s'oos'u qab-la kul-li mad-u'w-wim-bidaa'-watee

17.You art singled out for my call before all who are called;

لاَ يَشْرَكُكَ أَحَدٌ فِي رَجَائِي،

laa yash-rakuka ah'adun fee rajaaa-ee

18.none is associated with You in my hope,

وَلاَ يَتَّفِقُ أَحَدٌ مَعَكَ فِي دُعَائِي،

wa laa yat-tafiqu ah'adum-maa'ka fee dua'aa-ee

19.none comes along with You in my supplication,

وَلاَ يَنْظِمُهُ وَإيَّاكَ نِدَائِي

wa laa yanz'imuhoo wa ee-yaaka nidaaa-ee

20.nor does any join with You within it, for to You is my appeal.

لَكَ يَا إلهِي وَحْدَانِيَّةُ الْعَدَدِ،

laka yaaa ilaahee wah'-daanee-yatul-a'dad

21.To You, my God, belongs the Unity of number,

وَمَلَكَةُ الْقُدْرَةِ الصَّمَدِ،

wa malakatul-qud-ratis'-s'amad

22.the property of eternal power,

وَفَضِيلَةُ الْحَوْلِ وَالْقُوَّةِ،

wafaz''eelatul-h'aw-li wal-qoo-wah

23.the excellence of force and strength,

وَدَرَجَةُ الْعُلُوِّ وَالرِّفْعَةِ

wa darajatul-u'loo-wi war-rif-a'h

24.the degree of sublimity and elevation.

وَمَنْ سِوَاكَ مَرْحُومٌ فِي عُمْرِهِ،

wa man siwaak mar-h'oomun fee u'm-rih

25.Everyone other than You is the object of compassion in his lifetime,

مَغْلُوبٌ عَلَى أَمْرِهِ، مَقْهُورٌ عَلَى شَأنِهِ،

magh-loobun a'laaa am-rih maq-hoorun a'laa shaa-nih

26.overcome in his affair, overwhelmed in his situation,

مُخْتَلِفُ الْحَالاَتِ، مُتَنَقِّلٌ فِي الصِّفَاتِ.

mukh-taliful-h'aalaat mutanaq-qilun fees'-s'ifaat

27.diverse in states, constantly changing in attributes.

فَتَعَالَيْتَ عَنِ الأشْبَاهِ وَالاضْـدَادِ،

fataa'alay-ta a'nil-ash-baahee wal-az''-daad

28.So You art high exalted above likenesses and opposites,

وَتَكَبَّـرْتَ عَنِ الأمْثَـالِ وَالأنْدَادِ،

wa takab-bar-ta a'nil-am-thaali wal-andaad

29.proudly magnified beyond similitudes and rivals!

فَسُبْحَانَكَ لاَ إلهَ إلاَّ أَنْتَ.

fasub-h'aanaka laaa ilaha il-laaa ant

30.Glory be to You! There is no God but Thou.
