يَا أَللهُ الَّذِي لاَ يَخْفَى عَلَيْهِ

yaal-laahool-lad'ee laa yakh-faa a'lay-hee

1.O God, from whom nothing is concealed

شَيْءٌ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلاَ فِي السَّمَآءِ،

shay-un fil-ar-z''i wa laa fis-samaaa-i

2.in earth or heaven!

وَكَيْفَ يَخْفى عَلَيْكَ يَا إلهِي مَا أَنْتَ خَلَقْتَهُ؟

wa kay-fa yakh-faa a'leeka yaaa ilaahee maaa anta khalaq-tahu?

3.How should what You hast created, my God, be concealed from You?

وَكَيْفَ لاَ تُحْصِي مَا أَنْتَ صَنَعْتَهُ؟

wakay-fa laa tuh'-s'ee maaa anta s'anaa'-tahu?

4.How shouldst You not number what You hast made?

أَوْ كَيْفَ يَغِيبُ عَنْكَ مَا أَنْتَ تُدَبِّرُهُ؟

aw kay-fa yagheebu a'nka maaa anta tudab-biruhu?

5.How should what You governest be absent from You?

أَوْ كَيْفَ يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَهْرُبَ مِنْكَ مَنْ لاَ حَياةَ لَهُ إلاَّ بِرِزْقِكَ؟

aw kay-fa yas-tat'eeu' ay-yah-ruba minka mal-laa h'ayaata lahooo il-laa biriz-qika?

6.How should one who has no life except through Your provision have the ability to flee from You?

أَوْ كَيْفَ يَنْجُو مِنْكَ مَنْ لاَ مَذْهَبَ لَهُ فِي غَيْرِ مُلْكِكَ؟

aw kay-fa yanjoo minka mal-laa mad'-haba lahoo fee ghay-ri mul-kika?

7.How should one who has no road except in Your kingdom escape from You?

سُبْحَانَكَ! أَخْشى خَلْقِكَ لَكَ أَعْلَمُهُمْ بِكَ،

sub-h'aanak akh-shaa khal-qika laka aa'-lamuhum bik

8.Glory be to You! He among Your creatures who fears You most knows You best,

وَأَخْضَعُهُمْ لَكَ أَعْمَلُهُمْ بِطَاعَتِكَ،

wa akh-z''au'hum laka aa'-maluhum bit'aaa'tik

9.he among them most bent in humility is most active in obeying You,

وَأَهْوَنُهُمْ عَلَيْكَ مَنْ أَنْتَ تَرْزُقُهُ وَهُوَ يَعْبُدُ غَيْرَكَ،

wa ah-wanuhum a'lay-ka man anta tar-zuquhoo wa huwa yaa'-budu ghay-rak

10.and he among them whom You providest while he worships another is most contemptible before You!

سُبْحَانَكَ! لاَ يُنْقِصُ سُلْطَانَكَ مَنْ أَشْرَكَ بِكَ، وَكَذَّبَ رُسُلَكَ،

sub-h'aanak laa yanqus'u sul-t'aanaka man ash-raka bika wakad'-d'aba rusulak

11.Glory be to You! He who associates others with You and denies Your messengers diminishes not Your authority.

وَلَيْسَ يَسْتَطِيعُ مَنْ كَرِهَ قَضَآءَكَ أَنْ يَرُدَّ أَمْرَكَ،

wa lay-sa yas-tat'eeu' man kariha qaz''aaa-aka ay-yarud-da am-rak

12.He who dislikes Your decree cannot reject Your command.

وَلاَ يَمْتَنِعُ مِنْكَ مَنْ كَذَّبَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ،

wa laa yam-taniu' minka man kad'-d'aba biqud-ratik

13.He who denies Your power keeps himself not away from You.

وَلاَ يَفُوتُكَ مَنْ عَبَدَ غَيْرَكَ،

wa laa yafootuka man a'bada ghay-rak

14.He who worships other than You escapes You not.

وَلاَ يُعَمَّرُ فِي الدُّنْيَا مَنْ كَرِهَ لِقَآءَكَ.

wa laa yua'm-maru fid-dunyaa man kariha liqaaa-ak

15.He who dislikes meeting You will not be given endless life in this world.

سُبْحَانَكَ! مَا أَعْظَمَ شَأْنَكَ، وَأَقْهَرَ سُلْطَانَكَ،

sub-h'aanak maaa aa'-z'ama shaa-nak wa sq-hara sul-t'aanak

16.Glory be to You! How mighty is Your station, overpowering Your authority,

وَأَشَدَّ قُوَّتَكَ، وَأَنْفَذَ أَمْرَكَ!

wa sshad-da qoo-watak wa anfad'a am-rak

17.intense Your strength, penetrating Your command!

سُبْحَانَكَ! قَضَيْتَ عَلَى جَمِيعِ خَلْقِكَ الْمَوْتَ:

sub-h'aanaka qaz''ay-ta a'laa jameei' khal-qikal-maw-t

18.Glory be to You! You hast decreed death for all Your creatures,

مَنْ وَحَّدَكَ وَمَنْ كَفَرَ بِكَ،

maw-wah'-h'adaka wa man kafara bik

19.both him who professes Your Unity and him who disbelieves in You;

وَكُلٌّ ذَائِقُ المَوْتِ،

wa kul-lu d'aaa-iqul-mawt

20.each one will taste death,

وَكُلٌّ صَائِرٌ إلَيْكَ، فَتَبَارَكْتَ وَتَعَالَيْتَ،

wa kul-lu s'aaa-irun ilay-ka fatabaarak-ta wataa'alay-t

21.each one will come home to You. Blessed art You and high exalted!

لاَ إلهَ إلاَّ أَنْتَ، وَحْدَكَ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَكَ، آمَنْتُ بِكَ،

laaa ilaha il-laaa anta wah'-daka laa shareeka lak aaamantu bik

22.There is no god but Thou, You alone, who hast no associate. I have faith in You,

وَصَدَّقْتُ رُسُلَكَ وَقَبِلْتُ كِتَابَكَ،

wa s'ad-daq-tu rusulak wa qabil-tu kitaabak

23.I attest to Your messengers, I accept Your Book,

وَكَفَرْتُ بِكُلِّ مَعْبُود غَيْرِكَ،

wa kafar-tu bikul-li maa'-boodin ghay-rik

24.I disbelieve in every object of worship other than You,

وَبَرِئْتُ مِمَّنْ عَبَدَ سِوَاكَ.

wa bari-tu mim-man a'bada siwaak

25.I am quit of anyone who worships another!

أللَّهُمَّ إنِّي أُصْبحُ وَأُمْسِي مُسْتَقِلاًّ لِعَمَلِي،

al-laahum-ma in-neee us'-bihoo wa um-see mus-taqil-lal-lia'malee

26.O God, I rise in the morning and enter the evening making little of my good works,

مُعْتَرِفاً بِذَنْبِي، مُقِرَّاً بِخَطَايَايَ،

mua'-tarifam-bid'ambee muqir-ram-bikhat'aayaay

27.confessing my sins, admitting my offenses;

أَنَا بِإسْرَافِي عَلَى نَفْسِي ذَلِيلٌ،

anaa biis-raafee a'laa nafsee d'aleel

28.I am abased because of my prodigality against myself.

عَمَلِي أَهْلَكَنِي، وَهَوَايَ أَرْدَانِي،

a'maleee ah-lakanee wa hawaaya ar-daanee

29.My works have destroyed me, my caprice has ruined me,

وَشَهَوَاتِي حَرَمَتْنِي.

wa shahawaatee h'aramat-nee

30.my passions have deprived me.

فَأَسْأَلُكَ يَا مَوْلاَيَ سُؤالَ مَنْ نَفْسُهُ لاَهِيَةٌ لِطُولِ أَمَلِهِ،

faas-aluka yaa mawlaaya soo-aala man naf-suhoo laaheeatul-lit'ooli amalih

31.So I ask You, my Master, the asking of him whose soul is diverted by his drawn out expectations,

وَبَدَنُهُ غَافِلٌ لِسُكُونِ عُرُوقِهِ،

wa badanuhoo ghaafilul-lisukooni u'rooqih

32.whose body is heedless because of the stillness of his veins,

وَقَلْبُهُ مَفْتُونٌ بِكَثْرَةِ النِّعَمِ عَلَيْهِ،

wa qal-buhoo maf-twnum-bikath-ratin-nia'mi a'lay-h

33.whose heart is entranced by the multitude of favours done for him,

وَفِكْرُهُ قَلِيلٌ لِمَا هُوَ صَائِرٌ إلَيْهِ،

wa fik-ruhoo qaleelul-limaa huwa s'aaa-irun ilay-h

34.whose reflection is little concerning that to which he is coming home;

سُؤَالَ مَنْ قَدْ غَلَبَ عَلَيْهِ الاَمَلُ،

soo-aala man qad ghalaba a'lay-hil-amal

35.the asking of him whom false expectation has overcome,

وَفَتَنَهُ الْهَوى، وَاسْتَمْكَنَتْ مِنْهُ الدُّنْيَا،

wa fatanahul-hawaa was-tam-kanat min-hud-dunyaa

36.caprice has entranced, and this world has mastered,

وَأَظَلَّهُ الاَجَلُ، سُؤَالَ مَنِ اسْتَكْثَرَ ذُنُوبَهُ،

wa az'al-lahul-ajal soo-aala man is-tak-thara d'unoobah

37.and over whom death has cast its shadow; the asking of him who makes much of his sins

وَاعْتَرَفَ بِخَطِيئَتِهِ، سُؤَالَ مَنْ لاَ رَبَّ لَهُ غَيْرُكَ،

wa aa'-tarafa bikhat'ee-atih soo-aala mal-laa rab-ba lahoo ghay-ruk

38.and confesses his offense; the asking of him who has no Lord but Thou,

وَلاَ وَلِيَّ لَهُ دُونَكَ، وَلاَ مُنْقِذَ لَهُ مِنْكَ،

wa laa walee-ya lahoo doonak wa laa munqid'a lahoo mink

39.no friend besides You, no one to deliver him from You,

وَلاَ مَلْجَأَ لَهُ مِنْكَ إلاَّ إلَيْكَ .

wa laa mal-jaa lahoo minka il-laaa ilay-k

40.and no asylum from You except in You.

إلهِي أسْأَلُكَ بِحَقِّكَ الْـوَاجِبِ عَلَى جَمِيعِ خَلْقِكَ،

ilaaheee as-aluka bih'aq-qikal-waajibi a'laa jameei' khal-qik

41.My God, I ask You by Your right incumbent upon all Your creatures,

وَبِاسْمِكَ الْعَظِيْمِ الَّذِي أَمَرْتَ رَسُولَكَ أَنْ يُسَبِّحَكَ بِهِ،

wa bis-mikal-a'z'eemil-lad'eee amar-ta rasoolaka ay-yusab-bih'aka bih

42.by Your mighty name with which You commanded Your messenger to glorify You,

وَبِجَلاَلِ وَجْهِكَ الْكَرِيمِ الذِي لاَ يَبْلى

wa bijalaali waj-hikal-kareemil-lad'ee laa yab-laa

43.and by the majesty of Your generous face, which ages not,

وَلاَ يَتَغَيَّرُ، وَلاَ يَحُولُ وَلاَ يَفْنى،

wa laa yataghay-yar wa laa yah'oolu wa laa yaf-naa

44.nor changes, nor alters, nor passes away,

أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِ مُحَمَّد،

an tus'al-leea a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaali muh'am-mad

45.that You blessest Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَأَنْ تُغْنِيَنِي عَنْ كُلِّ شَيْء بِعِبادَتِكَ،

wa an tugh-neeanee a'n kul-li shay-im-bii'baadatik

46.that You freest me from need for all things through worshipping You,

وَأَنْ تُسَلِّيَ نَفْسِيْ عَنِ الدُّنْيَا بِمَخَافَتِكَ،

wa an tusal-leea naf-see a'nid-dunyaa bimakhaafatik

47.that You distractest my soul from this world through fear of You,

وَأَنْ تُثْنِيَنِي بِالْكَثِيْرِ مِنْ كَرَامَتِكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ،

wa an tuth-neeanee bil-katheeri min karaamatika birah'-matik

48.and that You turnest me back toward Your abundant generosity through Your mercy!

فَإلَيْكَ أَفِرُّ، و مِنْكَ أَخَافُ، وَبِكَ أَسْتَغِيثُ،

faalay-ka afir wa minka akhaaf wa bika as-tagheeth

49.To You I flee, You I fear, from You I seek aid,

وَإيَّاكَ أَرْجُو، وَلَكَ أَدْعُو، وَإلَيْكَ أَلْجَأُ،

wa ee-yaaka ar-joo wa laka ad-u'w wa ilay-ka al-jaa

50.in You I hope, You I supplicate, in You I seek asylum,

وَبِكَ أَثِقُ، وَإيَّاكَ أَسْتَعِينُ، وَبِكَ أُؤمِنُ،

wa bika athiq wa ee-yaaka as-tae'en wa bika oo-min

51.in You I trust, from You I ask help, in You I have faith,

وَعَلَيْكَ أَتَوَكَّلُ،

wa a'lay-ka atawak-kal

52.in You I have placed my confidence,

وَعَلَى جُودِكَ وَكَرَمِكَ أَتَّكِلُ.

wa a'laa joodika wakaramika at-takil

53.and upon Your munificence and Your generosity I rely.
