الْحَمْدُ للهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ.

aal-h'am-du lil-lahee rab-bil-a'alameen

1."Praise belongs to God, Lord of the worlds" (1:2)!

أللَّهُمَّ لَـكَ الْحَمْدُ بَدِيْعَ السَّموَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ،

al-laahum-ma lakal-h'am-du badeea's-samaawaati wal-ar-z''

2.O God, to You belongs praise! Originator of the heavens and the earth!

ذَا الْجَلاَلِ وَالإكْرَامِ،

d'aal-jalaali wal-ik-raam

3.Possessor of majesty and munificence!

رَبَّ الاَرْبَابِ وَإلهَ كُلِّ مَألُوه،

rab-bal-ar-baab wa ilaha kul-li maalooh

4.Lord of lords! Object of worship of every worshiper!

وَخَالِقَ كُلِّ مَخْلُوق،

wa khaaliqa kul-li makh-looq

5.Creator of every creature!

وَوَارِثَ كُلِّ شَيْء، لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَـيْءٌ،

wa waaritha kul-li shay- (lay-sa kamith-lihee shay)

6.Inheritor of all things! "There is nothing like Him" (42:11),

وَلا يَعْزُبُ عَنْهُ عِلْمُ شَيْء،

wa laa yaa'-zubu a'n-hoo i'l-mu shay-

7.knowledge of nothing escapes Him,

وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْء مُحِيطٌ،

wa huwa bikul-li shay-im-muh'eet'

8.He "encompasses everything" (41:54),

وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْء رَقِيبٌ،

wa huwa a'laa kul-li shay-ir-raqeeb

9.and He is watchful over everything (ref.33:52).

أَنْتَ الله لاَ إلهَ إلاَّ أَنْتَ الاَحَـدُ الْمُتَوَحِّدُ الْفَرْدُ الْمُتَفَرِّدُ،

antal-laahoo laaa ilaha il-laaa ant al-ah'adul-mutawah'-h'id

10.You art God, there is no god but Thou, the Unique, the Alone, the Single, the Isolated.

وَأَنْتَ اللهُ لاَ إلهَ إلاَّ أَنْتَ الْكَرِيمُ الْمُتَكَرِّمُ،

al-far-dul-mutafar-rid wa antal-laahoo laaa ilaha il-laaa ant al-kareemul-mutakar-rim

11.You art God, there is no god but Thou, the Generous, the Generously Bestowing,

الْعَظِيمُ الْمُتَعَظِّمُ، الْكَبِيرُ الْمُتَكَبِّرُ.

al-a'z'eemul-mutaa'z'-z'im al-kabeerul-mutakab-bir

12.the All-mighty, the Mightily Exalted, the Magnificent, the Magnificently Magnified.

وَأَنْتَ اللهُ لاَ إلهَ إلاَّ أَنْتَ العَلِيُّ الْمُتَعَالِ، الْشَدِيْدُ الْمِحَـالِ.

wa antal-laahoo laaa ilaha il-laaa ant al-a'lee-yul-mutaa'al ash-shadeedul-mih'aal

13.You art God, there is no god but Thou, the All-high, the Sublimely High, "the Strong in prowess" (13:13).

وَأَنْتَ اللهُ لا إلهَ إلاَّ أَنْتَ الـرَّحْمنُ الرَّحِيمُ الْعَلِيمُ الْحَكِيمُ.

wa antal-laahoo laaa ilaha il-laaa anta ar-rah'-mnur-rah'eem al-a'leemul-h'akeem

14.You art God, there is no god but Thou, the All-merciful, the All-compassionate, the All-knowing, the All-wise.

وَأَنْتَ اللهُ لا إلهَ إلاّ أَنْتَ السَّمِيعُ الْبَصِيرُ الْقَدِيمُ الْخَبِيرُ،

wa antal-laahoo laaa ilaha il-laaa anta as-sameeu'l-bas'eer al-qadeemul-khabeer

15.You art God, there is no god but Thou, the All-hearing, the All-seeing, the Eternal, the All-aware.

وَأَنْتَ اللهُ لاَ إلهَ إلاّ أَنْتَ الْكَرِيمُ الاَكْرَمُ الدَّائِمُ الادْوَمُ،

wa antal-laahoo laaa ilaha il-laaa anta al-kareemul-ak-ram ad-daaa-imul-ad-wam

16.You art God, there is no god but Thou, the Generous, the Most Generous, the Everlasting, the Most Everlasting.

وَأَنْتَ اللهُ لا إلهَ إلاّ أَنْتَ الاوَّلُ

wa antal-laahoo laaa ilaha il-laaa anta al-aw-walu

17.You art God, there is no god but Thou, the First

قَبْلَ كُلِّ أَحَد وَالاخِرُ بَعْدَ كُلِّ عَدَد،

qab-la kul-li ah'ad wal-aaakhiru baa'-da kul-li a'dad

18.before every one, the Last after every number.

وَأَنْتَ اللهُ لا إلهَ إلاّ أَنْتَ الدَّانِي فِي عُلُوِّهِ،

wa antal-laahoo laaa ilaha il-laaa ant ad-daanee fee u'loo-wih

19.You art God, there is no god but Thou, the Close in His highness,

وَالْعَالِي فِي دُنُوِّهِ،

wal-a'alee fee dunoo-wih

20.the High in His closeness.

وَأَنْتَ اللهُ لاَ إلهَ إلاَّ أَنْتَ ذُو الْبَهَاءِ وَالْمَجْدِ وَالْكِبْرِيَاءِ وَالْحَمْدِ.

wa antal-laahoo laaa ilaha il-laaa anta d'ool-bahaaa-i wal-maj-d wal-kib-reeaaa-i wal-h'am-d

21.You art God, there is no god but Thou, Possessor of radiance and glory, magnificence and praise.

وَأَنْتَ اللهُ لاَ إلهَ إلاّ أَنْتَ الَّذِي أَنْشَأْتَ الاشْيَاءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سِنْخ،

wa antal-laahoo laaa ilaha il-laaa ant al-lad'eee anshaa-tal-ash-yaaa-a min gheeri sin-kh

22.You art God, there is no god but Thou. You hast brought forth the things without root,

وَصَوَّرْتَ مَا صَوَّرْتَ مِنْ غَيْرِ مِثال،

wa s'aw-war-ta maa s'aw-war-ta min ghay-ri mithaal

23.formed what You hast formed without exemplar,

وَابْتَدَعْتَ الْمُبْتَدَعَاتِ بِلاَ احْتِذَآء.

wab-tadaa'-tal-mub-tadaa'ati bilaa ah'-tid'aaa-

24.and originated the originated things without limitation.

أَنْتَ الَّذِي قَدَّرْتَ كُلَّ شَيْء تَقْدِيراً

antal-lad'ee qad-dar-ta kul-la shay-in taq-deeraa

25.It is You who hast ordained each thing with an ordination,

وَيَسَّرْتَ كُلَّ شَيْء تَيْسِيراً،

wa yas-sar-ta kul-la shay-in tay-seeraa

26.eased each thing with an easing,

وَدَبَّرْتَ مَا دُونَكَ تَدْبِيْراً.

wa dab-bar-ta maa doonaka tad-beeraa

27.and governed everything below Yourself with a governing.

وَأَنْتَ الَّذِي لَمْ يُعِنْكَ عَلَى خَلْقِكَ شَرِيكٌ

antal-lad'ee lam yui'nka a'laa khal-qika shareek

28.It is You whom no associate helps with Your creation

وَلَمْ يُؤازِرْكَ فِي أَمْرِكَ وَزِيرٌ،

wa lam yuwaazir-ka feee am-rika wazeer

29.and no vizier aids in Your command.

وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَكَ مُشَاهِدٌ وَلا نَظِيرٌ.

wa lam yakul-laka mushaahidoo-wa laa naz'eer

30.You hast no witness and no equal.

أَنْتَ الَّذِي أَرَدْتَ فَكَانَ حَتْماً مَا أَرَدْتَ،

antal-lad'ee arat-ta fakaana h'at-mam-maaa arat-t

31.It is You who willed, and what You willed was unfailing,

وَقَضَيْتَ فَكَانَ عَدْلاً مَا قَضَيْتَ،

wa qaz''ay-ta fakaana a'd-lam-maa qaz''ay-t

32.who decreed, and what You decreed was just,

وَحَكَمْتَ فَكَانَ نِصْفاً مَا حَكَمْتَ،

wa h'akam-ta fakaana nis'-fam-maa h'akam-t

33.who decided, and what You decided was fair.

أَنْتَ الَّـذِي لا يَحْوِيْـكَ مَكَانٌ

antal-lad'ee laa yah'-weeka makaan

34.It is You whom place does not contain,

وَلَمْ يَقُمْ لِسُلْطَانِكَ سُلْطَانٌ،

wa lam yaqum lisul-t'aanika sul-t'aan

35.before whose authority no authority stands up,

وَلَمْ يُعْيِكَ بُرْهَانٌ وَلا بَيَانٌ.

wa lam yua'-yika bur-haanoo-wa laa bayaan

36.and whom no proof or explication can thwart.

أَنْتَ الَّذِي أَحْصَيْتَ كُلَّ شَيْء عَدَدَاً،

antal-lad'ee ah'-s'ay-ta kul-la shay-in a'dadaa

37.It is You who hast counted everything in numbers,

وَجَعَلْتَ لِكُلِّ شَيْء أَمَداً،

wa jaa'l-ta likul-li shay-in amadaa

38.appointed for everything a term,

وَقَدَّرْتَ كُلَّ شَيْء تَقْدِيْراً.

wa qad-dar-ta kul-la shay-in taq-deeraa

39.and ordained everything with an ordination.

أَنْتَ الَّذِي قَصُرَتِ الاوْهَامُ عَنْ ذَاتِيَّتِكَ،

antal-lad'ee qas'uratil-aw-haamu a'n d'aatee-yatik

40.It is You before whose selfness imaginations fall short,

وَعَجَزَتِ الافْهَامُ عَنْ كَيْفِيَّتِكَ ،

wa a'jazatil-af-haamu a'n kay-fee-yatik

41.before whose howness understandings have no incapacity,

وَلَمْ تُدْرِكِ الابْصَارُ مَوْضِعَ أَيْنِيَّتِكَ.

wa lam tud-rikil-ab-s'aaru maw-z''ia' ay-nee-yatik

42.and the place of whose whereness eyes perceive not.

أَنْتَ الَّذِي لا تُحَدُّ فَتَكُونَ مَحْدُوداً،

antal-lad'ee laa tuh'-h'ad-du fatakoona mah'-doodaa

43.It is You who hast no bounds, lest You be bounded,

وَلَمْ تُمَثَّلْ فَتَكُونَ مَوْجُوداً،

walam tumath-thal fatakoona maw-joodaa

44.who art not exemplified, lest You be found,

وَلَمْ تَلِدْ فَتَكُونَ مَوْلُوداً.

wa lam talid fatakoona maw-loodaa

45.who dost not beget, lest You be begotten.

أَنْتَ الَّذِي لا ضِدَّ مَعَكَ فَيُعَانِدَكَ،

antal-lad'ee laa z''id-da maa'ka fayua'anidak

46.It is You with whom there is no opposite, lest it contend with You,

وَلا عِدْلَ فَيُكَاثِرَكَ، وَلاَ نِدَّ لَكَ فَيُعَارِضَكَ.

wa laa i'd-la laka fayukaathirak wa laa nid-da laka fayua'ariz''ak

47.who hast no equal, lest it vie with You, who hast no rival, lest it resist You.

أَنْتَ الَّـذِي ابْتَدَأ وَاخْتَـرَعَ

antal-lad'ee ab-tadaa wakh-taraa'-

48.It is You who art He who began, devised,

وَاسْتَحْدَثَ وَابْتَـدَعَ

was-tah'-datha wab-tadaa'-

49.brought forth, originated,

وَأَحْسَنَ صُنْعَ مَا صَنَعَ،

wa ah'-sana s'un-a' maa s'anaa'-

50.and made well all that He made.

سُبْحانَكَ! مَا أَجَلَّ شَأنَكَ،

sub-h'aanaka maaa ajal-la shaa-naka!

51.Glory be to You! How majestic is Your station!

وَأَسْنَى فِي الامَاكِنِ مَكَانَكَ،

wa ss-naa fil-amaakini makaanaka!

52.How high Your place among the places!

وَأَصْدَعَ بِالْحَقِّ فُرقَانَكَ.

wa as'-daa' bil-h'aq-qi fur-qaanaka!

53.How cleanly Your Separator cleaves with the truth!

سُبْحَانَكَ مِنْ لَطِيفٍ مَا أَلْطَفَكَ،

sub-h'aanaka mil lat'eefim-maaa al-t'afaka!

54.Glory be to You! The Gentle - how gentle You art!

وَرَؤُوفٍ مَا أَرْأَفَكَ، وَحَكِيمٍ مَا أَعْرَفَكَ!

wa ra-oofim-maaa ar-afaka! wa h'akeemim-maaa aa'-rafaka!

55.The Clement - how clement You art! The Wise - how knowing You art!

سُبْحَانَكَ مِنْ مَلِيْكٍ مَا أَمْنَعَكَ،

sub-h'aanaka min maleekim-maaa am-naa'ka!

56.Glory be to You! The King - how invincible You art!

وَجَوَادٍ مَا أَوْسَعَكَ، وَرَفِيعٍ مَا أَرْفَعَكَ،

wa jawaadim-maaa aw-saa'ka! warafeei'm-maaa ar-faa'ka!

57.The Munificent - how full of plenty You art! The Elevated - how elevated You art!

ذُو الْبَهاءِ وَالْمَجْدِ وَالْكِبْرِيَاءِ وَالْحَمْدِ .

d'ool-bahaaa-i wal-maj-d wal-kib-reeaaa-i wal-h'am-d

58.Possessor of radiance and glory, magnificence and praise!

سُبْحَانَكَ بَسَطْتَ بِالْخَيْرَاتِ يَدَكَ

sub-h'aanak basat'-ta bil-khay-raati yadak

59.Glory be to You! You hast stretched forth Your hand with good things,

وَعُرِفَتِ الْهِدَايَةُ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ،

wa u'rifatil-hidaayatu min i'ndik

60.and from You guidance has come to be known,

فَمَنِ الْتَمَسَكَ لِدِينٍ أَوْ دُنْيا وَجَدَكَ.

famanil-tamasaka lideenin aw dunyaa wajadak

61.so he who begs from You religion or this world will find You.

سُبْحَانَكَ خَضَعَ لَكَ مَنْ جَرى فِي عِلْمِكَ،

sub-h'aanak khaz''aa' laka man jaraa fee i'l-mik

62.Glory be to You! Whatever passes in Your knowledge is subjected to You,

وَخَشَعَ لِعَظَمَتِكَ مَا دُونَ عَرْشِكَ،

wa khashaa' lia'z'amatika maa doona a'r-shik

63.all below Your Throne are humbled before Your mightiness,

وَانْقَادَ لِلتَّسْلِيْمِ لَكَ كُلُّ خَلْقِكَ.

wanqaada lilt-tas-leemi laka kul-lu khal-qik

64.and every one of Your creatures follows You in submission.

سُبْحَانَكَ لاَ تُحَسَّ، وَلاَ تُجَسُّ، وَلاَ تُمَسُّ،

sub-h'aanak laa tuh'as-su wa laa tujas-su wa laa tumas-su

65.Glory be to You! You art not sensed, nor touched, nor felt,

وَلاَ تُكَادُ، وَلاَ تُمَاطُ، وَلاَ تُنَازَعُ، وَلاَ تُجَارى،

wa laa tukaad wa laa tumaat'u wa laa tunaazau' wa laa tujaaraa

66.nor beguiled, nor held back, nor challenged, nor kept up with,

وَلاَ تُمارى، وَلاَ تُخَادَعُ، وَلاَ تُمَاكَرُ.

wa laa tumaaraa wa laa tukhaadau' wa laa tumaakar

67.nor resisted, nor deceived, nor circumvented.

سُبْحَانَكَ سَبِيلُكَ جَدَدٌ، وَأَمْرُكَ رَشَدٌ، وَأَنْتَ حَيٌّ صَمَدٌ.

sub-h'aanak sabeeluka jadad wa am-ruka rashad wa anta h'ay-yun s'amad

68.Glory be to You! Your path is smooth ground, Your command right guidance, and You art a living, eternal refuge.

سُبْحَانَكَ قَوْلُكَ حُكْمٌ، وَقَضَآؤُكَ حَتْمٌ، وَإرَادَتُكَ عَزْمٌ.

sub-h'aanaka qaw-luka h'uk-m wa qaz''aaaw-uka h'at-m wa iraadatuk a'z-m

69.Glory be to You! Your word is decisive, Your decree unfailing, Your will resolute.

سُبْحَانَكَ لاَ رَادَّ لِمَشِيَّتِكَ، وَلاَ مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَاتِكَ.

sub-h'aanaka laa raaad-da limashee-yatik wa laa mubad-dila likalimaatik

70.Glory be to You! None can reject Your wish, none can change Your words.

سُبْحَانَكَ بَاهِرَ الايآتِ، فَاطِرَ السَّمَوَاتِ بَارِئ، النَّسَماتِ.

sub-h'aanaka baahiral-aaayaat faat'iras-samaawaat baari-an-nasamaat

71.Glory be to You, Outdazzling in signs, Creator of the heavens, Author of the spirits!

لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْدَاً يَدُومُ بِدَوامِكَ،

lakal-h'am-du h'am-day-yadoomu bidawaamik

72.To You belongs praise, a praise that will be permanent with Your permanence!

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْداً خَالِداً بِنِعْمَتِكَ،

wa lakal-h'am-du h'am-dana khaalidam-binia'-matik

73.To You belongs praise, a praise everlasting through Your favour!

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْداً يُوَازِي صُنْعَكَ،

wa lakal-h'am-du h'am-day-yuwaazee s'un-a'k

74.To You belongs praise, a praise that will parallel Your benefaction!

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْداً يَزِيدُ عَلَى رِضَاكَ،

wa lakl-h'am-du h'am-day-yazeedu a'laa riz''aak

75.To You belongs praise, a praise that will increase Your good pleasure!

وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْداً مَعَ حَمْدِ كُلِّ حَامِد،

wa lakal-h'am-du h'am-dam-maa' h'am-di kul-li h'aamid

76.To You belongs praise, a praise along with the praise of every praiser

وَشُكْراً يَقْصُرُ عَنْهُ شُكْرُ كُلِّ شَاكِر،

wa shuk-ray-yaq-s'uru a'n-hoo shuk-ru kul-li shaakir

77.and a thanksgiving before which falls short the thanksgiving of every thanksgiver;

حَمْداً لاَ يَنْبَغِي إلاَّ لَكَ،

h'am-dal-laa yambagheee il-laa lak

78.a praise which is suitable for none but You

وَلاَ يُتَقَرَّبُ بِهِ إلاَّ إلَيْكَ،

wa laa yutaqar-rabu biheee il-laaa ilay-k

79.and through which nearness is sought to none but You;

حَمْداً يُسْتَدَامُ بِهِ الاَوَّلُ،

h'am-day-yus-tadaamu bihil-aw-wal

80.a praise which will make permanent the first [bounty]

وَيُسْتَدْعَى بِهِ دَوَامُ الاخِرِ،

wa yus-tad-a'a bihee dawaamul-aaakhir

81.and call forth the permanence of the last;

حَمْداً يَتَضَاعَفُ عَلَى كُرُورِ الاَزْمِنَةِ،

h'am-day-yataz''aaa'fu a'laa kurooril-az-minah

82.a praise which will multiply through recurrence of times

وَيَتَزَايَدُ أَضْعَافَاً مُتَرَادِفَةً،

wa yatazaayadu az''-a'afam-mutaraadifah

83.and increase through successive doublings;

حَمْداً يَعْجِزُ عَنْ إحْصَآئِهِ الْحَفَظَةُ،

h'am-day-yaa'-jizu a'n ih'-s'aaa-ihil-h'afaz'ah

84.a praise which the guardians will not be able to number

وَيَزِيدُ عَلَى مَا أَحْصَتْهُ فِي كِتابِكَ الْكَتَبَةُ،

wa yazeedu a'laa maaa ah'-s'at-hoo fee kitaabikal-katabah

85.and which exceeds what the writers number in Your Book;

حَمْداً يُوازِنُ عَرْشَكَ المَجِيْدَ،

h'am-day-yuwaazinu a'r-shakal-majeed

86.a praise which will counterbalance Your glorious Throne

وَيُعَادِلُ كُرْسِيَّكَ الرَّفِيعَ،

wa yua'adilu kur-see-yakar-rafeea'-

87.and equal Your elevated Footstool;

حَمْداً يَكْمُلُ لَدَيْكَ ثَوَابُهُ،

h'am-day-yak-mulu laday-ka thawaabuh

88.a praise whose reward with You will be complete

وَيَسْتَغْرِقُ كُلَّ جَزَآء جَزَآؤُهُ،

wa yas-tagh-riqu kul-la jazaaa-in jazaaaw-uh

89.and whose recompense will comprise every recompense;

حَمْداً ظَاهِرُهُ وَفْقٌ لِبَاطِنِهِ،

h'am-dana z'aahiruhoo waf-qul-libaat'inih

90.a praise whose outward conforms to its inward,

وَبَاطِنُهُ وَفْقٌ لِصِدْقِ النِّيَّةِِ،

wa baat'inuhoo waf-qul-lis'id-qin-nee-yati

91.and whose inward conforms to correct intention;

حَمْداً لَمْ يَحْمَدْكَ خَلْقٌ مِثْلَهُ،

h'am-dal-lam yah'-mad-ka khal-qum-mith-lah

92.a praise with whose like no creature has praised You

وَلاَ يَعْرِفُ أَحَدٌ سِوَاكَ فَضْلَهُ،

wa laa yaa'-rifu ah'adun siwaaka faz''-lah

93.and whose excellence none knows but Thou;

حَمْداً يُعَانُ مَنِ اجْتَهَدَ فِي تَعْدِيْدِهِ،

h'am-day-yua'anu mani aj-tahada fee taa'-deedih

94.a praise in which he who strives to multiply Your praise will be helped

وَيُؤَيَّدُ مَنْ أَغْرَقَ نَزْعَاً فِي تَوْفِيَتِهِ،

wa yoo-ay-yadu man agh-raqa naz-a'na fee taw-feeatih

95.and he who draws the bow to the utmost in fulfilling it will be confirmed;

حَمْداً يَجْمَعُ مَا خَلَقْتَ مِنَ الْحَمْدِ،

h'am-day-yaj-mau' maa khalaq-ta minal-h'am-d

96.a praise which will gather all the praise which You hast created

وَيَنْتَظِمُ مَا أَنْتَ خَالِقُهُ مِنْ بَعْدُ،

wa yantaz'imu maaa anta khaaliquhoo mim-baa'-d

97.and tie together all which You wilt afterwards create;

حَمْداً لاَ حَمْدَ أَقْرَبُ إلَى قَوْلِكَ مِنْهُ،

h'am-dal-laa h'am-da aq-rabu ilaa qaw-lika min-h

98.a praise than which no praise is nearer to Your word

وَلاَ أَحْمَدَ مِمَّنْ يَحْمَدُكَ بِهِ،

wa laaa ah'-mada mim-may-yah'-maduka bih

99.and than which none is greater from any who praise You;

حَمْداً يُوجِبُ بِكَرَمِكَ الْمَزِيدَ بِوُفُورِهِ

h'am-day-yoojibu bikaramikal-mazeeda biwufoorih

100.a praise whose fullness will obligate increase through Your generosity

وَتَصِلُهُ بِمَزِيْد بَعْدَ مَزِيْد طَوْلاً مِنْكَ،

wa tas'iluhoo bimazeedim-baa'-da mazeedin t'aw-lam-mink

101.and to which You wilt join increase after increase as graciousness from You;

حَمْداً يَجِبُ لِكَرَمِ وَجْهِكَ، وَيُقَابِلُ عِزَّ جَلاَلِكَ.

h'am-day-yajibu likarami waj-hik wa yuqaabilu i'z-za jalaalik

102.a praise that will befit the generosity of Your face and meet the might of Your majesty!

رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِ مُحَمَّد

rab-bi s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-waaali muh'am-mad

103.My Lord, bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

الْمُنْتَجَبِ، الْمُصْطَفَى،

al-muntajabil-mus'-t'afaa

104.the distinguished, the chosen,

الْمُكَرَّمِ، الْمُقَرَّبِ، أَفْضَلَ صَلَوَاتِكَ،

al-mukar-ramil-muqar-rab af-z''ala s'alawaatik

105.the honoured, the brought nigh, with the most excellent of Your blessings,

وَبارِكْ عَلَيْهِ أَتَمَّ بَرَكاتِكَ،

wa baarik a'lay-heee atam-ma barakaatik

106.benedict him with the most complete of Your benedictions,

وَتَرَحَّمْ عَلَيْهِ أَمْتَعَ رَحَمَاتِكَ.

wa tarah'-h'am a'lay-heee am-taa' rah'amaatik

107.and have mercy upon him with the most enjoyable of Your mercies!

رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ، صَلاَةً زَاكِيَةً،

rab-bi s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalihee s'alaah zaakeea

108.My Lord, bless Muhammad and his Household with a fruitful blessing,

لاَ تَكُونُ صَلاَةٌ أَزْكَى مِنْهَا،

laa takoonu s'alaatun az-kaa min-haa

109.more fruitful than which there is no blessing!

وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ صَلاَةً نَامِيَةً،

wa s'al-li a'lay-hee s'alaatan naameeata

110.Bless him with a growing blessing,

لاَ تَكُونُ صَلاةٌ أَنْمَى مِنْهَا،

laa takoonu s'alaatun anmaa min-haa

111.more growing than which there is no blessing!

وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ صَلاةً رَاضِيَةً،

wa s'al-li a'lay-hee s'alaah raaz''eeata

112.And bless him with a pleasing blessing,

لاَ تَكُونُ صَلاةٌ فَوْقَهَا.

laa takoonu s'alaatun faw-qahaa

113.beyond which there is no blessing!

رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ،

rab-bi s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalihee

114.My Lord, bless Muhammad and his Household

صَلاَةً تُرْضِيهِ وَتَزِيدُ عَلَى رِضَاهُ،

s'alaatan tur-z''eehoo watazeedu a'laa riz''aah

115.with a blessing which will please him and increase his good pleasure!

وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ صَلاَةً تُرْضِيكَ وَتَزِيدُ عَلَى رِضَاكَ لَهُ،

wa s'al-li a'lay-hee s'alaatan tur-z''eeka watazeedu a'laa riz''aaka lah

116.Bless him with a blessing which will please You and increase Your good pleasure toward him!

وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ صَلاَةً لاَ تَرْضَى لَهُ إلاَّ بِهَا،

wa s'al-li a'lay-hee s'alaatan laa tar-z''aa lahooo il-laa bihaa

117.And bless him with a blessing through other than which You wilt not be pleased for him,

وَلاَ تَرى غَيْرَهُ لَهَا أَهْلاً.

wa laa taraa ghay-rahoo lahaaa ah-laa

118.and for which You seest no one else worthy!

رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ،

rab-bi s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalihee

119.My Lord, bless Muhammad and his Household

صَلاَةً تُجَاوِزُ رِضْوَانَكَ، وَيَتَّصِلُ اتِّصَالُهَا بِبَقَآئِكَ،

s'alaah tujaawizu riz''-waanak wa yat-tas'ilu at-tis'aaluhaa bibaqaaa-ik

120.with a blessing which will pass beyond Your good pleasure, be continuous in its continuity through Your subsistence,

وَلاَ يَنْفَدُ كَمَا لاَ تَنْفَدُ كَلِماتُكَ.

wa laa yanfadu kamaa laa tanfadu kalimaatuk

121.and never be spent, just as Your words will never be spent!

رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ

rab-bi s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalihee

122.My Lord, bless Muhammad and his Household

وَآلِهِ صَلاَةً تَنْتَظِمُ صَلَوَاتِ مَلائِكَتِكَ

tantaz'imu s'alawaati malaaa-ikatika

123.with a blessing which will tie together the blessings of Your angels,

وَأَنْبِيآئِكَ وَرُسُلِكَ وَأَهْلِ طَاعَتِكَ.

wa ambeeaaa-ika wa rusulika wa ah-li t'aaa'tik

124.Your prophets, Your messengers, and those who obey You,

وَتَشْتَمِلُ عَلَى صَلَوَاتِ عِبَادِكَ

wa tash-tamilu a'laa s'alawaati i'baadika

125.comprise the blessings of Your servants,

مِنْ جِنّكَ وَإنْسِكَ وَأَهْلِ إجَابَتِكَ،

min jin-nika wa insika wa ah-li ijaabatik

126.jinn or mankind, and those worthy of Your response,

وَتَجْتَمِعُ عَلَى صَلاَةِ كُلِّ مَنْ ذَرَأْتَ وَبَرَأْتَ مِنْ أَصْنَافِ خَلْقِكَ.

wa taj-tamiu' a'laa s'alaati kul-li man d'araa-ta wabaraa-ta min as'-naafi khal-qik

127.and bring together the blessings of every one of the kinds of Your creatures which You hast sown and authored!

رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ

rab-bi s'al-li a'lay-hee wa aaalihee

128.My Lord, bless Muhammad and his Household

صَلاَةً تُحِيطُ بِكُلِّ صَلاَة سَالِفَة وَمُسْتَأْنَفَة،

s'alaatan tuh'eet'u bikul-li s'alaatin saalifatiw-wamus-taa-nafah

129.with a blessing which will encompass every blessing, bygone and new!

وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَى آلِهِ

wa s'al-li a'lay-hee waa'laaa aaalihee

130.Bless him and his Household

صَلاَةً مَرْضِيَّةً لَكَ وَلِمَنْ دُونَكَ،

s'alaah mar-z''ee-yatal-laka waliman doonak

131.with a blessing which is pleasing to You and everyone below You

وَتُنْشِئُ مَعَ ذَلِكَ صَلَوَات تُضَاعِفُ مَعَهَا تِلْكَ الصَّلَوَاتِ عِنْدَهَا،

wa tunshi-u maa' d'alika s'alawaatin tuz''aai'fu maa'haa til-kas'-s'alawaati i'ndahaa

132.and will bring forth with all that a blessing with which You wilt multiply those blessings

وَتَزِيدُهَا عَلَى كُرُورِ الاَيَّامِ زِيَادَةً

wa tazeeduhaa a'laa kurooril-ay-yaami zeeaadatan

133.and increase them through the recurrence of days with an increasing

فِي تَضَاعِيفَ لاَ يَعُدُّهَا غَيْرُكَ.

fee taz''aae'efa laa yau'd-duhaa ghay-ruk

134.in multiples which none can count but Thou!

رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَى أَطَائِبِ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ

rab-bi s'al-li a'laaa at'aaa-ibi ah-li bay-tihi

135.My Lord, bless the best of his Household,

الَّذِينَ اخْتَرْتَهُمْ لاَِمْرِكَ،

al -lad'eena akh-tar-tahum liam-rik

136.those whom You hast chosen for Your command,

وَجَعَلْتَهُمْ خَزَنَةَ عِلْمِكَ، وَحَفَظَةَ دِيْنِكَ،

wa jaa'l-tahum khazanata i'l-mik wa h'afaz'ata deenik

137.appointed the treasurers of Your knowledge, the guardians of Your religion,

وَخُلَفَآءَكَ فِي أَرْضِكَ، وَحُجَجَكَ عَلَى عِبَادِكَ،

wa khulafaaa-aka feee ar-z''ik wa h'ujajaka a'laa i'baadik

138.Your vicegerents in Your earth, and Your arguments against Your servants,

وَطَهَّرْتَهُمْ مِنَ الرِّجْسِ وَالدَّنَسِ تَطْهِيراً بِإرَادَتِكَ،

wa t'ah-har-tahum minar-rij-si wad-danasi tat'-heeram-bi-iraadatik

139.purified from uncleanness and defilement through a purification by Your desire (ref:33:33),

وَجَعَلْتَهُمُ الْوَسِيْلَةَ إلَيْكَ وَالْمَسْلَكَ إلَى جَنَّتِكَ،

wa jaa'l-tahumul-waseelata ilay-ka wal-mas-laka ilaa jan-natik

140.and made the mediation to You and the road to Your Garden!

رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ

rab-bi s'al-li a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalihee

141.My Lord, bless Muhammad and his Household

صَلاةً تُجْزِلُ لَهُمْ بِهَا مِنْ نِحَلِكَ وَكَرَامَتِكَ،

s'alaatan tuj-zilu lahum bihaa min-nih'alika wakaraamatik

142.with a blessing which makes plentiful Your gifts and generosity,

وَتُكْمِلُ لَهُمُ الاَشْيَآءَ مِنْ عَطَاياكَ وَنَوَافِلِكَ،

wa tuk-milu lahumul-ash-yaaa-a min a't'aayaaka wa nawaafilik

143.perfects for them Your bestowals and awards,

وَتُوَفِّرُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْحَظَّ مِنْ عَوَائِدِكَ وَفَوائِدِكَ.

wa tuwaf-firu a'lay-himul-h'az'-z'a min a'waaa-idika wa fawaaa-idik

144.and fills out their share of Your kindly acts and benefits!

رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَيْهِمْ صَلاَةً لاَ أَمَدَ فِي أَوَّلِهَا،

rab-bi s'al-li a'lay-hee waa'lay-him s'alaatan laaa amada feee aw-walihaa

145.My Lord, bless him and his Household with a blessing whose first has no term,

وَلاَ غَايَةَ لاَِمَدِهَا، وَلاَ نِهَايَةَ لاِخِرِهَا.

wa laa ghaayata liamadihaa wa laa nihaayata liaaakhirihaa

146.whose term has no limit, and whose last has no utmost end!

رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ زِنَةَ عَرْشِكَ وَمَا دُونَهُ،

rab-bi s'al-li a'lay-him- zinata a'r-shika wa maa doonah

147.My Lord, bless them to the weight of Your Throne and all below it,

وَمِلءَ سَموَاتِكَ وَمَا فَوْقَهُنَّ،

wa mil-a samaawaatika wa maa faw-qahun

148.the amount that fills the heavens and all above them,

وَعَدَدَ أَرَضِيْكَ، وَمَا تَحْتَهُنَّ، وَمَا بَيْنَهُنَّ،

wa a'dada araz''eeka wa maa tah'-tahun-na wa maa bay-nahun

149.the number of Your earths and all below and between them,

صَلاَةً تُقَرِّبُهُمْ مِنْكَ زُلْفى وَتَكُونُ لَكَ وَلَهُمْ رِضَىً،

s'alaatan tuqar-ribuhum minka zul-faa wa takoonu laka wa lahum riz''ana

150.a blessing that will bring them near to You in proximity, please You and them,

وَمُتَّصِلَةٌ بِنَظَائِرِهِنَّ أَبَداً.

wa mut-tas'ilatam-binaz'aaa-irhin-na abadaa

151.and be joined to its likes forever!

أللَّهُمَّ إنَّكَ أَيَّدْتَ دِينَكَ فِي كُلِّ أَوَان

al-laahum-ma in-naka ay-yat-ta deenaka

152.O God, surely You hast confirmed Your religion in all times

بِإمَام أَقَمْتَهُ عَلَماً لِعِبَادِكَ وَّمَنارَاً فِي بِلاَدِكَ،

biimaamin aqam-tahoo a'lamal-lii'baadika wa manaaran fee? bilaadik

153.with an Imam whom You hast set up as a guidepost to Your servants and a lighthouse in Your lands,

بَعْدَ أَنْ وَصَلْتَ حَبْلَهُ بِحَبْلِكَ،

baa'-da aw-was'al-ta h'ab-lahoo bih'ab-lik

154.after his cord has been joined to Your cord!

وَجَعَلْتَهُ الذَّرِيعَةَ إلَى رِضْوَانِكَ،

wa jaa'l-tahud'-d'areea'ta ilaa riz''-waanik

155.You hast appointed him the means to Your good pleasure,

وَافْتَرَضْتَ طَاعَتَهُ، وَحَذَّرْتَ مَعْصِيَتَهُ،

waf-taraz''-ta t'aaa'tah wa h'ad'-d'ar-ta maa'-s'eeatah

156.made obeying him obligatory, cautioned against disobeying him,

وَأَمَرْتَ بِامْتِثَالِ أوَاِمِرِه وَالانْتِهَآءِ عِنْدَ نَهْيِهِ،

wa amar-ta bim-tithaali awaamirih walintihaaa-i i'nda nah-yih

157.and commanded following his commands, abandoning what he has prohibited,

وَأَلاَّ يَتَقَدَّمَهُ مُتَقَدِّمٌ، وَلاَ يَتَأَخَّرَ عَنْهُ مُتَأَخِّرٌ،فَهُوَ عِصْمَةُ اللاَّئِذِينَ

wa al-laa yataqad-damahoo mutaqad-dim wa laa yataakh-khara a'n-hoo mutaakh-khir fa huwa i's'-matul-laaa-id'een

158.and that no forward-goer go ahead of him or back-keeper keep back from him! So he is the preservation of the shelter-seekers,

، وَكَهْفُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، وَعُرْوَةُ الْمُتَمَسِّكِينَ، وَبَهَآءُ الْعَالَمِينَ.

wa kah-ful-moo-mineen wa u'r-watul-mutamas-sikeen wa bahaaa-ul-a'alameen

159.the cave of the faithful, the handhold of the adherents, and the radiance of the worlds!

أللَّهُمَّ فَأَوْزِعْ لِوَلِيِّكَ شُكْرَ مَا أَنْعَمْتَ بِهِ عَلَيْهِ،

al-laahum-ma faaw-zia' liwalee-yka shuk-ra maaa an-a'm-ta bihee a'lay-h

160.O God, so inspire Your guardian to give thanks for that in which You hast favoured him,

وَأَوْزِعْنَا مِثْلَهُ فِيهِ، وَآتِهِ مِنْ لَدُنْكَ سُلْطَاناً نَصِيراً،

wa aw-zia'-naa mith-lahoo feeh wa aaatihee mil-ladunka sul-t'aanan-nas'eeraa

161.inspire us with the like concerning him, grant him 'an authority from You to help him' (ref.17:80),

وَافْتَحْ لَهُ فَتْحاً يَسِيراً، وَأَعِنْهُ بِرُكْنِكَ الاعَزِّ،

wa af-tah' lahoo fat-h'ay-yaseeraa wa ai'n-hoo biruk-nikal-aa'z

162.open for him an easy opening, aid him with Your mightiest pillar,

وَاشْدُدْ أَزْرَهُ، وَقَوِّ عَضُدَهُ، وَرَاعِهِ بِعَيْنِكَ،

wash-dud az-rah wa qaw-wi a'z''udah wa raai'hee bi 'y-nik

163.brace up his back, strengthen his arm, guard him with Your eye,

وَاحْمِهِ بِحِفْظِكَ، وَانْصُرْهُ بِمَلائِكَتِكَ،

wah'-mihee bih'if-z'ik wans'ur-hoo bimalaaa-ikatik

164.defend him with Your safeguarding, help him with Your angels,

وَامْدُدْهُ بِجُنْدِكَ الاَغْلَبِ وَأَقِمْ بِهِ كِتَابَكَ وَحُدُودَكَ،

wam-dud-hoo bijundikal-agh-lab wa aqim bihee kitaabaka wa h'udoodak

165.and assist him with Your most victorious troops! Through him establish Your Book, Your bounds,

وَشَرَائِعَكَ وَسُنَنَ رَسُولِكَ صَلَوَاتُكَ اللَّهُمَّ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ،

wa sharaaa-ia'ka wa sunana rasoolika s'alawaatukal-laahum-ma a'lay-hee wa aaalih

166.Your laws, and the norms of Your Messenger's Sunna (Your blessings, O God, be upon him and his Household),

وَأَحْيِ بِهِ مَا أَمَاتَهُ الظَّالِمُونَ مِنْ مَعَالِمِ دِينِكَ،

wa ah'-yi bihee maaa amaatahuz'-z'aalimoona mim-maa'alimi deenik

167.bring to life the guideposts of Your religion, deadened by the wrongdoers,

وَاجْلُ بِهِ صَدَآءَ الْجَوْرِ عَنْ طَرِيقَتِكَ،

waj-lu bihee s'adaaa-al-jaw-ri a'n t'areeqatik

168.burnish the rust of injustice from Your way,

وَأَبِنْ بِهِ الضَّرَّآءَ مِنْ سَبِيلِكَ،

wa abim-bihiz''-z''ar-raaa-a min sabeelik

169.sift the adversity from Your road,

وَأَزِلْ بِهِ النَّاكِبِينَ عَنْ صِرَاطِكَ،

wa azil bihin-naakibeena a'n s'iraat'ik

170.eliminate those who deviate from Your path,

وَامْحَقْ بِهِ بُغَاةَ قَصْدِكَ عِوَجاً،

wam-h'aq bihee bughaata qas'-dika i'wajaa

171.and erase those who seek crookedness in Your straightness!

وَأَلِنْ جَانِبَهُ لاَِوْلِيَآئِكَ، وَابْسُطْ يَدَهُ عَلَى أَعْدَائِكَ،

wa alin jaanibahoo liaw-leeaaa-ik wab-sut' yadahoo a'laaa aa'-daaa-ik

172.Make his side mild toward Your friends, stretch forth his hand over Your enemies,

وَهَبْ لَنا رَأْفَتَهُ وَرَحْمَتَهُ وَتَعَطُّفَهُ وَتَحَنُّنَهُ،

wa hab lanaa raa-fatahoo wa rah'-matahoo wa taa't'-t'ufahoo

173.give us his clemency, his mercy, his tenderness, his sympathy,

وَاجْعَلْنَا لَهُ سَامِعِينَ مُطِيعِينَ، وَفِي رِضَاهُ سَاعِينَ،

wa tah'an-nunah waj-a'l-naa lahoo saamie'ena mut'eee'en wa fee riz''aahoo saae'en

174.and make us his hearers and obeyers, strivers toward his good pleasure,

وَإلَى نُصْرَتِهِ وَالْمُدَافَعَةِ عَنْهُ مُكْنِفِينَ،

wa ilaa nus'-ratihee wal-mudaafaa'ti a'n-hoo muk-nifeen

175.assistants in helping him and defending him,

وَإلَيْكَ وَإلَى رَسُولِكَ صَلَواتُكَ

wa ilay-k wa ilaa rasoolika s'alawaatuka

176.and brought near through that to You and Your Messenger

اللَّهُمَّ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ بِذَلِكَ مُتَقَرِّبِينَ.

al-laahum-ma a'lay-hee wa aaalihee bid'alika mutaqar-ribeen

177.(Your blessings, O God, be upon him and his Household).

أللَّهُمَّ وَصَلِّ عَلَى أَوْلِيآئِهِمُ الْمُعْتَرِفِينَ بِمَقَامِهِمْ،

al-laahum-ma was'al-li a'laaa aw-leeaaa-ihimu al-mua'-tarifeena bimaqaamihim

178.O God, and bless the friends [of the Imams], the confessors of their station,

الْمُتَّبِعِينَ مَنْهَجَهُمْ، الْمُقْتَفِيْنَ آثَارَهُمْ،

al-mut-tabie'ena man-hajahum al-muq-tafeena aaathaarahum

179.the keepers to their course, the pursuers of their tracks,

الْمُسْتَمْسِكِينَ بِعُرْوَتِهِمْ، الْمُتَمَسِّكِينَ بِوَلاَيَتِهِمْ،

al-mus-tam-sikeena biu'r-watihim al-mutamas-sikeena biwilaayatihim

180.the clingers to their handhold, the adherents to their guardianship,

الْمُؤْتَمِّينَ بِإمَامَتِهِمْ، الْمُسَلِّمِينَ لاَِمْرِهِمْ

al-moo-tam-meena biimaamatihim al-musal-limeena liam-rihim

181.the followers of their imamate, the submitters to their command,

الْمُجْتَهِدِيْنَ فِي طاعَتِهِمْ، الْمُنْتَظِرِيْنَ أَيَّامَهُمْ،

al-muj-tahideena fee t'aaa'tihim al-muntaz'ireena ay-yaamahum

182.the strivers to obey them, the awaiters of their days,

الْمَادِّينَ إلَيْهِمْ أَعْيُنَهُمْ،

al-maaad-deena ilay-him aa'-yunahum

183.the directors of their eyes toward them,

الصَّلَوَاتِ الْمُبَارَكَاتِ الزَّاكِيَاتِ النَّامِيَاتِ الغَادِيَاتِ، الرَّائِحاتِ.

as'-s'alawaatil-mubaarakaatiz-zaakeeaatin-naameeaatil-ghaadeeaatir-raaa-ih'aat

184.with blessings blessed, pure, growing, fresh, and fragrant!

وَسَلِّمْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَعَلَى أَرْوَاحِهِمْ،

wa sal-lim a'lay-him waa'laaa ar-waah'ihim

185.Give them and their spirits peace,

وَاجْمَعْ عَلَى التَّقْوَى أَمْرَهُمْ،

waj-maa' a'laat-taq-waaa am-rahum-

186.bring together their affair in reverential fear,

وَأَصْلِحْ لَهُمْ شُؤُونَهُمْ،

wa as'-lih' lahum shoo-oonahum-

187.set right their situations,

وَتُبْ عَلَيْهِمْ

wa tub a'lay-him

188.turn toward them,

إنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ وَخَيْرُ الْغَافِرِينَ،

in-naka antat-taw-waabur-rah'eemu wa khay-rul-ghaafireen

189."Surely You art Ever-turning, All-compassionate" (2:128) and the Best of forgivers,

وَاجْعَلْنَا مَعَهُمْ فِي دَارِ السَّلاَمِ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.

waj-a'l-naa maa'hum fee daaris-salaami birah'-matik yaaa ar-h'amar-raah'imeen

190.and place us with them in the Abode of Peace, through Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful!

أللَّهُمَّ هَذَا يَوْمُ عَرَفَةَ،

al-laahum-ma had'aa yaw-mu a'rafah

191.O God, this is the Day of 'Arafa,

يَوْمٌ شَرَّفْتَهُ وَكَرَّمْتَهُ وَعَظَّمْتَهُ، نَشَرْتَ فِيهِ رَحْمَتَكَ،

yaw-mun shar-raf-tahoo wakar-ram-tahoo waa'z'-z'am-tah nashar-ta feehee rah'-matak

192.a day which You hast made noble, given honour, and magnified. Within it You hast spread Your mercy,

وَمَنَنْتَ فِيهِ بِعَفْوِكَ وَأَجْزَلْتَ فِيهِ عَطِيَّتَكَ،

wa mananta feehee bi 'f-wik wa aj-zal-ta feehee a't'ee-yatak

193.showed kindness through Your pardon, and made plentiful Your giving,

وَتَفَضَّلْتَ بِهِ عَلَى عِبَادِكَ.

wa tafaz''-z''al-ta bihee a'laa i'baadik

194.and by it You hast been bounteous toward Your servants.

أللَّهُمَّ وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ الَّذِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِ قَبْلَ خَلْقِكَ لَهُ، وَبَعْدَ خَلْقِكَ إيَّاهُ،

al-laahum-ma waanaa a'b-dukal-lad'eee an-a'm-ta a'lay-hqab-la khal-qika lahoo wa baa'-da khal-qika ee-yaah

195.I am Your servant whom You favoured before creating him and after creating him.

فَجَعَلْتَهُ مِمَّنْ هَدَيْتَهُ لِدِينِكَ،

fajaa'l-tahoo mim-man haday-tahoo lideenik

196.You madest him one of those whom You guided to Your religion,

وَوَفَّقْتَهُ لِحَقِّكَ، وَعَصَمْتَهُ بِحَبْلِكَ،

wa waf-faq-tahoo lih'aq-qik wa a's'am-tahoo bih'ab-lik

197.gavest success in fulfilling Your right, preserved through Your cord,

وَأَدْخَلْتَهُ فِيْ حِزْبِكَ، وَأَرْشَدْتَهُ لِمُوَالاَةِ أَوْليآئِكَ،

wa ad-khal-tahoo fee h'iz-bik wa ar-shat-tahoo limuwaalaati aw-leeaaa-ika

198.included within Your party, and directed aright to befriend Your friends

وَمُعَادَاةِ أَعْدَائِكَ، ثُمَّ أَمَرْتَهُ فَلَمْ يَأْتَمِرْ،

wa mua'adaati aa'-daaa-ik thum-ma amar-tahoo falam yaa-tamir-

199.and show enmity to Thine enemies. Then You commanded him, but he did not follow Your commands,

وَزَجَرْتَهُ فَلَمْ يَنْزَجِرْ، وَنَهَيْتَهُ عَنْ مَعْصِيَتِكَ فَخَالَفَ أَمْرَكَ إلَى نَهْيِكَ،

wa zajar-tahoo falam yanzajir- wa nahay-tahoo a'm-maa'-s'eeatik fakhaalafa am-raka ilaa nah-yik

200.You restricted Him, but he did not heed Your restrictions, You prohibited him from disobedience toward You, but he broke Your command by doing what You hadst prohibited,

لاَ مُعَانَدَةً لَكَ وَلاَ اسْتِكْبَاراً عَلَيْكَ،

laa mua'anadatal-laka wa laa as-tik-baarana a'lay-k

201.not in contention with You, nor to display pride toward You;

بَلْ دَعَاهُ هَوَاهُ إلَى مَا زَيَّلْتَهُ، وَإلَى مَا حَذَّرْتَهُ،

bal daa'ahoo hawaahooo ilaa maa zay-yal-tahoo wa ilaa maa h'ad'-d'ar-tah

202.on the contrary, his caprice called him to that which You hadst set apart and cautioned against,

وَأَعَانَهُ عَلَى ذالِكَ عَدُوُّكَ وَعَدُوُّهُ،

wa aa'anahoo a'laa d'alika a'doo-wuka waa'doo

203.and he was helped in that by Your enemy and his enemy.

فَأَقْدَمَ عَلَيْهِ عَارِفاً بِوَعِيْدِكَ، رَاجِياً لِعَفْوِكَ،

wuh faaq-dama a'lay-h a'arifam-biwae'edik raajeeal-lia'f-wik

204.So he went ahead with it knowing Your threat, hoping for Your pardon,

وَاثِقاً بِتَجَاوُزِكَ، وَكَانَ أَحَقَّ عِبَادِكَ ـ

waathiqam-bitajaawuzik wa kaana ah'aq-qa i'baadika

205.and relying upon Your forbearance, though he was the most obligated of Your servants

مَعَ مَا مَنَنْتَ عَلَيْهِ ـ أَلاَّ يَفْعَلَ،

maa' maa mananta a'lay-heee al-laa yaf-a'l

206.- given Your kindness toward him - not to do so.

وَهَا أَنَا ذَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ صَاغِراً،

wa haaa ana d'aa bay-na yaday-ka s'aaghirana

207.Here I am, then, before You, despised,

ذَلِيلاً، خَاضِعَاً، خَاشِعاً، خَائِفَاً،

d'aleelana khaaz''ia'na khaashia'na khaaa-ifana

208.lowly, humble, abject, fearful,

مُعْتَرِفاً بِعَظِيم مِنَ الذُّنُوبِ تَحَمَّلْتُهُ،

mua'-tarifam-bi 'z'eemim-minad'-d'unoobi tah'am-mal-tuh

209.confessing the dreadful sins with which I am burdened

وَجَلِيْل مِنَ الْخَطَايَا اجْتَرَمْتُهُ،

wa jaleelim-minal-khat'aayaa aj-taram-tuh

210.and the great offenses that I have committed,

مُسْتَجِيراً بِصَفْحِكَ، لائِذاً بِرَحْمَتِكَ،

mus-tajeeram-bis'af-h'ik laaa-id'am-birah'-matik

211.seeking sanctuary in Your forgiveness, asking shelter in Your mercy,

مُوقِناً أَنَّهُ لاَ يُجِيرُنِي مِنْكَ مُجِيرٌ،

mooqinan an-nahoo laa yujeerunee minka mujeer

212.and certain that no sanctuary-giver will give me sanctuary from You

وَلاَ يَمْنَعُنِي مِنْكَ مَانِعٌ .

wa laa yam-nau'nee minka maaniu'n

213.and no withholder will hold me back from You.

فَعُدْ عَلَيَّ بِمَا تَعُودُ بِهِ عَلَى مَنِ اقْتَرَفَ مِنْ تَغَمُّدِكَ،

fau'd a'lay-ya bimaa tau'wdu bihee a'laa mani aq-tarafa min tagham-mudik

214.So act kindly toward me, just as You actest kindly by Your shielding him who commits sins,

وَجُدْ عَلَيَّ بِمَا تَجُودُ بِهِ عَلَى مَنْ أَلْقَى بِيَدِهِ إلَيْكَ مِنْ عَفْوِكَ،

wa jud a'lay-ya bimaa tajoodu bihee a'laa man al-qaa beeadiheee ilay-ka min a'f-wik

215.be munificent toward me, just as You art munificent by pardoning him who throws himself before You,

وَامْنُنْ عَلَيَّ بِمَا لاَ يَتَعَاظَمُكَ

wam-nun a'lay-ya bimaa laa yataa'az'amuka

216.and show kindness to me, just as it is nothing great for You

أَنْ تَمُنَّ بِهِ عَلَى مَنْ أَمَّلَكَ مِنْ غُفْرَانِكَ،

an tamun-na bihee a'laa man am-malaka min ghuf-raanik

217.to show kindness by forgiving him who expectantly hopes in You!

وَاجْعَلْ لِي فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ نَصِيباً أَنَالُ بِهِ حَظّاً مِنْ رِضْوَانِكَ،

waj-a'l-lee fee had'aal-yaw-mi nas'eeban anaalu bihee h'az'-z'am-mir-riz''-waanik

218.Appoint for me in this day an allotment through which I may attain a share of Your good pleasure,

وَلاَ تَرُدَّنِي صِفْراً مِمَّا يَنْقَلِبُ بِهِ الْمُتَعَبِّدُونَ لَكَ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ،

wa laa tarud-danee s'if-ram-mim-maa yanqalibu bihil-mutaa'b-bidoona lka min i'baadik

219.and send me not back destitute of that with which Your worshipers return from among Your servants!

وَإنِّي وَإنْ لَمْ أُقَدِّمْ مَا قَدَّمُوهُ مِنَ الصَّالِحَاتِ،

wa in-nee wa il-lam uqad-dim maa qad-damoohoo minas'-s'aalih'aati

220.Though I have not forwarded the righteous deeds which they have forwarded,

فَقَد قَدَّمْتُ تَوْحِيدَكَ،

faqad qad-dam-tu taw-h'eedaka

221.I have forwarded the profession of Your Unity

وَنَفْيَ الاَضْدَادِ وَالاَنْدَادِ وَالاشْبَاهِ عَنْكَ،

wa naf-yal-az''-daadi wal-andaadi wal-ash-baahee a'nk

222.and the negation from You of opposites, rivals, and likenesses,

وَأَتَيْتُكَ مِنَ الاَبْوَابِ الَّتِي أَمَرْتَ أَنْ تُؤْتى مِنْها،

wa atay-tuka minal-ab-waabi al-lateee amar-ta an too-taa min-haa

223.I have come to You by the gateways by which You hast commanded that people come,

وَتَقَرَّبْتُ إلَيْكَ بِمَا لاَ يَقْرُبُ ،

wa taqar-rab-tu ilay-ka bimaa laa yaq-rubu biheee

224.and I have sought nearness to You through that, without seeking nearness through which,

أَحَدٌ مِنْكَ إلاَّ بِالتَّقَرُّبِ بِهِ

ah'adum-minka il-laa bit-taqar-rubi bih

225.none gains nearness to You.

ثُمَّ أَتْبَعْتُ ذلِكَ بِالاِنابَةِ إلَيْكَ،

thum-ma at-baa'-tu d'alika bil-inaabati ilay-k

226.Then I followed all this with repeated turning toward You,

وَالتَّذَلُّلِ وَالاسْتِكَانَةِ لَكَ، وَحُسْنِ الظَّنِّ بِكَ، وَالثِّقَةِ بِمَا عِنْدَكَ،

wat-tad'al-luli walis-tikaanati lak wa h'us-niz'-z'an-ni bik wath-thiqati bimaa i'ndak

227.lowliness and abasement before You, good opinion of You, and trust in what is with You;

وَشَفَعْتُهُ بِرَجآئِكَ

wa shafaa'-tuhoo birajaaa-ika

228.and to that I coupled hope in You,

الَّذِي قَلَّ مَا يَخِيبُ عَلَيْهِ رَاجِيْكَ،

al-lad'ee qal-la maa yakheebu a'lay-hee raajeek

229.since the one who hopes in You is seldom disappointed!

وَسَأَلْتُكَ مَسْأَلَةَ الْحَقِيرِ الذّلِيلِ

wa saal-tuka mas-alatal-h'aqeerid'-d'aleel

230.I asked You with the asking of one vile, lowly,

الْبَائِسِ الْفَقِيْرِ الْخَائِفِ الْمُسْتَجِيرِ،

al-baaa-isil-faqeeril-khaaa-ifil-mus-tajeer

231.pitiful, poor, fearful, seeking sanctuary;

وَمَعَ ذَلِكَ خِيفَةً وَتَضَرُّعاً وَتَعَوُّذاً وَتَلَوُّذاً،

wa maa' d'alika kheefataw-wataz''ar-rua'a wa taa'w-wud'aa watalaw-wud'aa

232.all that in fear and pleading, seeking refuge and asking shelter,

لاَ مُسْتَطِيلاً بِتَكبُّرِ الْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ،

laa mus-tat'eelam-bitakab-buril-mutakab-bireen

233.not presumptuous through the pride of the proud,

وَلاَ مُتَعَالِياً بِدالَّةِ الْمُطِيعِينَ،

wa laa muta'aleeam-bidaaal-latil-mut'eee'en

234.nor exalting myself with the boldness of the obedient,

وَلاَ مُسْتَطِيلاً بِشَفَاعَةِ الشَّافِعِينَ،

wa laa mus-tat'eelam-bishafaaa'tish-shaafie'en

235.nor presumptuous of the intercession of the interceders.

وَأَنَا بَعْدُ أَقَلُّ الاَقَلِّيْنَ، وَأَذَلُّ الاَذَلِّينَ،

wa ana baa'-du aqal-lul-aqal-leen wa ad'al-lul-ad'al-leen

236.For I am still the least of the least and the lowliest of the lowly,

وَمِثْلُ الذَّرَّةِ أَوْ دُونَهَا.

wa mith-lud'-d'ar-rati aw doonahaa

237.like a dust mote or less!

فَيَا مَنْ لَمْ يَعَاجِلِ الْمُسِيئِينَ، وَلاَ يَنْدَهُ الْمُتْرَفِينَ،

fayaa mal-lam yua'ajilil-musee-een wa laa yandahul-mut-rafeen

238.O He who does not hurry the evildoers nor restrain those living in ease!

وَيَا مَنْ يَمُنُّ بِإقَالَةِ الْعَاثِرِينَ، وَيَتَفَضَّلُ بإنْظَارِ الْخَاطِئِينَ،

wa yaa may-yamun-nu biiqaalatil-a'athireen wa yatafaz''-z''alu biinz'aaril-khaat'i-een

239.O He who shows kindness through releasing the stumblers and gratuitous bounty through respiting the offenders!

أَنَا الْمُسِيءُ الْمُعْتَرِفُ الْخَاطِئُ الْعَاثِرُ،

anaal-musee-ul-mua'-tariful-khaat'i-ul-a'athir

240.I am the evildoer, the confessor, the offender, the stumbler!

أَنَا الَّذِيْ أَقْدَمَ عَلَيْكَ مُجْتَرِئاً،

anaal-lad'eee aq-dama a'lay-ka muj-tari-aa

241.I am he who was audacious toward You as one insolent!

أَنَا الَّذِي عَصَاكَ مُتَعَمِّداً،

anaal-lad'ee a's'aaka mutaa'm-midaa

242.I am he who disobeyed You with forethought!

أَنَا الَّذِي اسْتَخْفى مِنْ عِبَادِكَ وَبَارَزَكَ،

anaal-lad'ee as-takh-faa min i'baadika wabaarazak

243.I am he who hid myself from Your servants and blatantly showed myself to You!

أَنَا الَّذِي هَابَ عِبَادَكَ وَأَمِنَكَ

anaal-lad'ee haaba i'baadaka wa aminak

244.I am he who was awed by Your servants and felt secure from You!

أَنَا الَّذِي لَمْ يَرْهَبْ سَطْوَتَكَ وَلَمْ يَخَفْ بَأْسَكَ

anaal-lad'ee lam yar-hab sat'-watak wa lam yakhaf baa-sak

245.I am he who dreaded not Your penalty and feared not Your severity!

أَنَا الْجَانِي عَلَى نَفْسِهِ، أَنَا الْمُرْتَهَنُ بِبَلِيَّتِهِ،

anal-jaanee a'laa naf-sih anal-mur-tahanu bibalee-yatih

246.I am the offender against himself! I am the hostage to his own affliction!

الْقَلِيلُ الْحَيَاءِ، أَنَا الطَّوِيلُ الْعَنآءِ،

anal-qaleelul-h'ayaaa-i anaat'-t'aweelul-a'naaa-i

247.I am short in shame! I am long in suffering!

بِحَقِّ مَنِ انْتَجَبْتَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ،

bih'aq-qi mani antajab-ta min khal-qik

248.By the right of him whom You hast distinguished among Your creation

وَبِمَنِ اصْطَفَيْتَهُ لِنَفْسِكَ،

wa bimani as'-t'afay-tahoo linaf-sik

249.and by him whom You hast chosen for Yourself!

بِحَقِّ مَنِ اخْتَرْتَ مِنْ بَريَّتِكَ، وَمَنِ اجْتَبَيْتَ لِشَأْنِكَ،

bih'aq-qi mani akh-tar-ta mim-baree-yatik wa mani aj-tabay-ta lishaa-nik

250.By the right of him whom You hast selected from among Your creatures and by him whom You hast picked for Your task!

بِحَقِّ مَنْ وَصَلْتَ طَاعَتَهُ بِطَاعَتِكَ،

bih'aq-qi maw-was'al-ta t'aaa'tahoo bit'aaa'tik

251.By the right of him the obeying of whom You hast joined to obeying You,

وَمَنْ جَعَلْتَ مَعْصِيَتَهُ كَمَعْصِيَتِكَ

wa man jaa'l-ta maa'-s'eeatahoo kamaa'-s'eeatik

252.and by him the disobeying of whom You hast made like disobeying You!

بِحَقِّ مَنْ قَرَنْتَ مُوَالاَتَهُ بِمُوالاتِكَ،

bih'aq-qi man qaranta muwaalaatahoo bimuwaalaatik

253.And by the right of him whose friendship You hast bound to Your friendship

وَمَنْ نُطْتَ مُعَادَاتَهُ بِمُعَادَاتِكَ.

wa man-nut'-ta mua'adaatahoo bimua'adaatik

254.and by him whose enmity You hast linked to Thine enmity!

تَغَمَّدْنِي فِي يَوْمِيَ هَذَا بِمَا تَتَغَمَّدُ بِهِ مَنْ جَارَ إلَيْكَ مُتَنَصِّلاً،

tagham-mad-nee fee yaw-mee had'aa bimaa tatagham-madu bihee man- jaara ilay-ka mutanas'-s'ilaa

255.Shield me in this day of mine, by that through which You shieldest him who prays fervently to You while disavowing

وَعَاذَ بِاسْتِغْفَارِكَ تَائِباً،

wa a'ad'a bis-tigh-faarika taaa-ibaa

256.and him who seeks refuge in Your forgiveness while repenting!

وَتَوَلَّنِي بِمَا تَتَوَلَّى بِهِ أَهْلَ طَاعَتِكَ،

wa tawal-lanee bimaa tatawal-laa biheee ah-la t'aaa'tika

257.Attend to me with that through which You attendest to the people of obedience toward You,

وَالزُّلْفَى لَدَيْكَ، وَالْمَكَانَةِ مِنْكَ،

waz-zul-faa laday-ka wal-makaanati mink

258.proximity to You, and rank with You!

وَتَوَحَّدْنِي بِمَا تَتَوَحَّدُ بِهِ مَنْ وَفى بِعَهْدِكَ،

wa tawah'-h'ad-nee bimaa tatawah'-h'adu bihee man- wafaa bi 'h-dik

259.Single me out, as You singlest him out who fulfils Your covenant,

وَأَتْعَبَ نَفْسَهُ فِيْ ذَاتِكَ، وَأَجْهَدَهَا فِي مَرْضَاتِكَ،

wa at-a'ba naf-sahoo fee d'aatik wa aj-hadahaa fee mar-z''aatik

260.fatigues himself for Your sake alone, and exerts himself in Your good pleasure!

وَلاَ تُؤَاخِذْنِي بِتَفْرِيطِيْ فِي جَنْبِكَ،

wa laa too-aakhid'-nee bitaf-reet'ee fee jambik

261.Take me not to task for my neglect in respect to You,

وَتَعَدِّي طَوْرِيْ فِي حُدودِكَ، وَمُجَاوَزَةِ أَحْكَامِكَ.

wa taa'd-dee t'aw-ree fee h'udoodik wa mujaawazati ah'-kaamik

262.my transgressing the limit in Your bounds, and stepping outside Your ordinances!

وَلاَ تَسْتَدْرِجْنِي بِإمْلائِكَ لِي

wa laa tas-tad-rij-nee biim-laaa-ika lee

263.Draw me not on little by little by granting me a respite,

اسْتِدْرَاجَ مَنْ مَنَعَنِي خَيْرَ مَا عِنْدَهُ،

is-tid-raaja mam-manaa'nee khay-ra maa i'ndahoo

264.like the drawing on little by little of him who withholds from me the good he has

وَلَمْ يَشْرَكْكَ فِي حُلُولِ نِعْمَتِهِ بِي،

wa lam yash-rak-ka fee h'ulooli nia'-matihee bee

265.by not sharing with You in letting favour down upon me!

وَنَبِّهْنِي مِنْ رَقْدَةِ الْغَافِلِينَ،

wa nab-bih-nee min- raq-datil-ghaafileen

266.Arouse me from the sleep of the heedless,

وَسِنَةِ الْمُسْرِفِينَ، وَنَعْسَةِ الْمَخْذُولِينَ.

wa sinatil-mus-rifeen wa naa'-satil-makh-d'ooleen

267.the slumber of the prodigal, and the dozing of the forsaken!

وَخُذْ بِقَلْبِي إلَى مَا اسْتَعْمَلْتَ بِهِ القَانِتِيْنَ،

wa khud' biqal-beee ilaa maa as-taa'-mal-ta bihil-qaaniteen

268.Take my heart to that in which You hast employed the devout,

وَاسْتَعْبَدْتَ بِهِ الْمُتَعَبِّدِينَ، وَاسْتَنْقَذْتَ بِهِ الْمُتَهَاوِنِينَ،

was-taa'-bat-ta bihil-mutaa'b-bideen was-tanqad'-ta bihil-mutahaawineen

269.enthralled the worshipers, and rescued the remiss!

وَأَعِذْنِي مِمَّا يُبَاعِدُنِي عَنْكَ،

wa ai'd'-nee mim-maa yubaai'dunee a'nk

270.Give me refuge from that which will keep me far from You,

وَيَحُولُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ حَظِّي مِنْكَ،

wa yah'oolu bay-nee wa bay-na h'az'-z'ee mink

271.come between me and my share from You,

وَيَصُدُّنِي عَمَّا أُحَاوِلُ لَدَيْكَ.

wa yas'ud-dunee a'm-maaa uh'aawilu laday-k

272.and bar me from that which I strive for in You!

وَسَهِّلْ لِي مَسْلَكَ الْخَيْرَاتِ إلَيْكَ،

wa sah-hil-lee mas-lakal-khay-raati ilay-k

273.Make easy for me the road of good deeds toward You,

وَالْمُسَابَقَةِ إلَيْهَا مِنْ حَيْثُ أَمَرْتَ،

wal-msaabaqata ilay-haa min h'ay-thu amar-t

274.racing to them from where You hast commanded,

وَالْمُشَاحَّةَ فِيهَا عَلَى مَا أَرَدْتَ.

wal-mushaaah'-h'ata feehaa a'laa maaa arat-t

275.and coveting them as You desirest!

وَلاَ تَمْحَقْنِي فِيمَنْ تَمْحَقُ مِنَ الْمُسْتَخِفِّينَ بِمَا أَوْعَدْتَ،

wa laa tam-h'aq-nee fee man tam-h'aqu minal-mus-takhif-feena bimaaa aw-a't-t

276.Efface me not along with those whom You effacest for thinking lightly of what You hast promised!

وَلاَ تُهْلِكْنِي مَعَ مَنْ تُهْلِكُ مِنَ الْمُتَعَرِّضِينَ لِمَقْتِكَ،

wa laa tuh-lik-nee maa' man tuh-liku minal-mutaa'r-riz''eena limaq-tik

277.Destroy me not with those whom You destroyest for exposing themselves to Your hate!

وَلاَ تُتَبِّرْني فِيمَنْ تُتَبِّرُ مِنَ الْمُنْحَرِفِينَ عَنْ سُبُلِكَ.

wa laa tutab-bir-nee fee man tutab-biru minal-mun-h'arifeena a'n subulik

278.Annihilate me not among those whom You annihilatest for deviating from Your roads!

وَنَجِّنِيْ مِنْ غَمَرَاتِ الْفِتْنَةِ،

wa naj-jinee min ghamaraatil-fit-nah

279.Deliver me from the floods of trial,

وَخَلِّصْنِي مِنْ لَهَوَاتِ الْبَلْوى،

wa khal-lis'-nee mil-lahawaatil-bal-waa

280.save me from the gullets of affliction,

وَأَجِرْنِي مِنْ أَخْذِ الاِمْلاءِ،

wa ajir-nee min akh-d'il-im-laaa-

281.and grant me sanctuary from being seized by respite!

وَحُلْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ عَدُوٍّ يُضِلُّنِي،

wa h'ul bay-nee wabay-na a'doo-wee-yuz''il-lunee

282.Come between me and the enemy who misguides me,

وَهَوىً يُوبِقُنِي، وَمَنْقَصَة تَرْهَقُنِي.

wa hawana yoobiqunee wa manqas'atin tar-haqunee

283.the caprice which ruins me, and the failing which overcomes me!

وَلاَ تُعْرِضْ عَنِّي إعْرَاضَ مَنْ لاَ تَرْضَى عَنْهُ بَعْدَ غَضَبِكَ،

wa laa tua'-riz'' a'n-neee ia'-raaz''a mal-laa tar-z''aa a'n-hoo baa'-da ghaz''abik

284.Turn not away from me with the turning away in wrath from one with whom You art not pleased!

وَلاَ تُؤْيِسْنِي مِنَ الامَلِ فِيكَ، فَيَغْلِبَ عَلَيَّ الْقُنُوطُ مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ،

wa laa too-yis-nee minal-amali feeka fayagh-liba a'lay-yal-qunoot'u mir-rah'-matik

285.Let me not lose heart in expecting from You, lest I be overcome by despair of Your mercy!

وَلاَ تَمْنَحْنِي بِمَا لاَ طَاقَةَ لِيْ بِهِ،

wa laa tam-tah'in-nee bimaa laa t'aaqata lee bihee

286.Grant me not that which I cannot endure,

فَتَبْهَظَنِي مِمَّا تُحَمِّلُنِيهِ مِنْ فَضْلِ مَحَبَّتِكَ،

fatab-haz'anee mim-maa tuh'am-miluneehee min faz''-li mah'ab-batik

287.lest You weighest me down with the surplus of Your love which You loadest upon me!

وَلاَ تُرْسِلْنِي مِنْ يَدِكَ إرْسَالَ مَنْ لاَ خَيْرَ فِيهِ،

wa laa tur-sil-nee mee-yadika ir-saala man laa khay-ra feeh

288.Send me not from Your hand, the sending of him who possesses no good,

وَلاَ حَاجَةَ بِكَ إلَيْهِ، وَلاَ إنابَةَ لَهُ،

wa laa h'aajata bika ilay-h wa laaa inaabata lah

289.toward whom You hast no need, and who turns not back [to You]!

وَلاَ تَرْمِ بِيَ رَمْيَ مَنْ سَقَطَ مِنْ عَيْنِ رِعَايَتِكَ،

wa laa tar-mi bee ram-y man saqat'a min a'y-ni ria'ayatik

290.Cast me not with the casting of him who has fallen from the eye of Your regard

وَمَنِ اشْتَمَلَ عَلَيْهِ الْخِزْيُ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ،

wa mani ash-tamala a'leehil-khiz-yu min i'ndik

291.and been wrapped in degradation from You!

بَلْ خُذْ بِيَدِيْ مِنْ سَقْطَةِ الْمُتَرَدِّدِينَ،

bal khud' beeadee min saq-t'atil-mutarad-deen

292.Rather take my hand [and save me] from the falling of the stumblers,

وَوَهْلَةِ الْمُتَعَسِّفِيْنَ، وَزَلّةِ الْمَغْرُورِينَ، وَوَرْطَةِ الْهَالِكِينَ.

wa wah-latil-mutaa's-sifeen wa zal-latil-magh-rooreen wa war-t'atil-haalikeen

293.the disquiet of the deviators, the slip of those deluded, and the plight of the perishers!

وَعَافِنِي مِمَّا ابْتَلَيْتَ بِهِ طَبَقَاتِ عَبِيدِكَ وَإمآئِكَ،

wa a'afinee mim-mab-talay-ta bihee t'abaqaati a'beedika wa imaaa-ik

294.Release me from that with which You hast afflicted the ranks of Your servants and handmaids

وَبَلِّغْنِي مَبَالِغَ مَنْ عُنِيتَ بِهِ، وَأَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِ، وَرَضِيتَ عَنْهُ،

wa bal-ligh-nee mabaaligha man u'neeta bih wa an-a'm-ta a'lay-h wa raz''eeta a'n-h

295.and make me reach the utmost degrees of him about whom You art concerned, towards whom You showest favour, and with whom You art pleased,

فَأَعَشْتَهُ حَمِيداً، وَتَوَفَّيْتَهُ سَعِيداً،

faaa'sh-tahoo h'ameedaa wa tawaf-fay-tahoo sae'edaa

296.so that You lettest him live as one praiseworthy and takest him to You as one felicitous!

وَطَوِّقْنِي طَوْقَ الاِقْلاَعِ عَمَّا يُحْبِطُ الْحَسَنَاتِ،

wa t'aw-wiq-nee t'aw-qal-iq-laai' a'm-maa yuh'-bit'ul-h'asnaat

297.Collar me with the collar of abstaining from that which makes good deeds fail

وَيَذْهَبُ بِالْبَرَكَاتِ،

wa yad'-habu bil-barakaat

298.and takes away blessings!

وَأَشْعِرْ قَلْبِيَ الازْدِجَارَ عَنْ قَبَائِحِ السَّيِّئاتِ،

wa ash-i'r qal-beealiz-dijaara a'n qabaaa-ih'is-say-yi-aat

299.Impart to my heart restraint before ugly works of evil

وَفَوَاضِحِ الْحَوْبَاتِ،

wa fawaaz''ih'il-h'aw-baat

300.and disgraceful misdeeds!

وَلاَ تَشْغَلْنِي بِمَا لاَ أُدْرِكُهُ إلاَّ بِكَ عَمَّا لا َ يُرْضِيْكَ عَنِّي غَيْرُهُ،

wa laa tash-ghal-nee bimaa laaa ud-rikuhooo il-laa bika a'm-maa laa yur-z''eeka a'n-nee ghay-ruh

301.Divert me not by that which I cannot reach except through You from doing that which alone makes You pleased with me!

وَانْزَعْ مِنْ قَلْبِي حُبَّ دُنْيَا دَنِيَّة تَنْهى عَمَّا عِنْدَكَ،

wa anzia' min qal-bee h'ub-ba dunyaa danee-yah tan-haa a'm-maa i'ndak

302.Root out from my heart the love of this vile world, which keeps from everything which is with You,

وَتَصُدُّ عَنِ ابْتِغَآءِ الْوَسِيلَةِ إلَيْكَ، وَتُذْهِلُ عَنِ التَّقَرُبِ مِنْكَ،

wa tas'ud-du a'ni ab-tighaaa-il-waseelati ilay-k wa tud'-hilu a'nit-taqar-rubi mink

303.bars from seeking the mediation to You, and distracts from striving for nearness to You!

وَزَيِّنَ لِيَ التَّفَرُّدَ بِمُنَاجَاتِكَ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ،

wa zay-yil-leeat-tafar-ruda bimunaajaatika bil-lay-li wan-nahaar

304.Embellish for me solitude in prayer whispered to You by night and by day!

وَهَبْ لِي عِصْمَةً تُدْنِينِي مِنْ خَشْيَتِكَ،

wa hab lee i's'-matan tud-neenee min khash-yatik

305.Give me a preservation which will bring me close to dread of You,

وَتَقْطَعُنِي عَنْ رُكُوبِ مَحَارِمكَ،

wa taq-t'au'nee a'r-rukoobi mah'aarimik

306.cut me off from committing things made unlawful by You,

وَتَفُكُّنِي مِنْ أَسْرِ الْعَظَائِمِ،

wa tafuk-kunee min as-ril-a'z'aaa-im

307.and spare me from captivation by dreadful sins!

وَهَبْ لِي التَّطْهِيرَ مِنْ دَنَسِ الْعِصْيَانِ،

wa hab leeat-tat'-heera min danasil-i's'-yaan

308.Give me purification from the defilement of disobedience,

وَأَذْهِبْ عَنِّي دَرَنَ الْخَطَايَا،

wa ad'-hib a'n-nee darana alkhat'aayaa

309.take away from me the filth of offenses,

وَسَرْبِلْنِي بِسِرْبالِ عَافِيَتِكَ،

wa sar-bil-nee bisir-baali a'afeeatik

310.dress me in the dress of Your well-being,

وَرَدِّنِي رِدَآءَ مُعَافاتِكَ،

wa rad-dinee ridaaa-a mua'afaatik

311.cloak me in the cloak of Your release,

وَجَلِّلْنِي سَوابِغَ نَعْمَائِكَ،

wa jal-lil-nee sawaabigha naa'-maaa-ik

312.wrap me in Your ample favours,

وَظَاهِرْ لَدَيَّ فَضْلَكَ وَطَوْلَكَ،

wa z'aahir laday-ya faz''-laka wat'aw-lak

313.and clothe me in Your bounty and Your graciousness!

وَأَيْدْنِي بِتَوْفِيقِكَ وَتَسْدِيْدِكَ،

wa ay-yid-nee bitaw-feeqika watas-deedik

314.Strengthen me with Your giving success and Your pointing the right way,

وَأَعِنِّي عَلَى صالِحِ النِّيَّةِ وَمَرْضِيِّ الْقَوْلِ وَمُسْتَحْسَنِ الْعَمَلِ.

wa ai'n-nee a'laa s'aalih'in-nee-yati wa mar-z''ee-yil-qaw-li wa mus-tah'-sanil-a'mal

315.help me toward righteous intention, pleasing words, and approved works,

وَلاَ تَكِلْنِي إلَى حَوْلِي وَقُوَّتِي دُونَ حَوْلِكَ وَقُوَّتِكَ،

wa laa takil-neee ilaa h'aw-lee wa qoo-watee doona h'aw-lika wa qoo-watik

316.and entrust me not to my force and my strength in place of Your force and Your strength!

وَلاَ تَخْزِنِي يَوْمَ تَبْعَثُنِي لِلِقائِكَ،

wa laa tukh-zinee yaw-ma tab-a'thunee liliqaaa-ik

317.Degrade me not on the day You raisest me up to meet You,

وَلاَ تَفْضَحْنِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْ أَوْلِياِئكَ،

wa laa taf-z''ah'-nee bay-na yaday aw-leeaaa-ik

318.disgrace me not before Your friends,

وَلاَ تُنْسِنِي ذِكْرَكَ، وَلاَ تُذْهِبْ عَنِّي شُكْرَكَ،

wa laa tunsinee d'ik-rak wa laa tud'-hib a'n-nee shuk-raka

319.make me not forget remembering You, take not away from me thanking You,

بَلْ أَلْزِمْنِيهِ فِي أَحْوَالِ السَّهْوِ عِنْدَ غَفَلاَتِ الْجَاهِلِينَ لاِلائِكَ،

bal al-zim-neehee feee ah'-waalis-sah-wi i'nda ghafalaatil-jaahileena lislaaa-ik

320.but enjoin it upon me in states of inattention when the ignorant are heedless of Your boons,

وَأَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أُثْنِيَ بِمَا أَوْلَيْتَنِيهِ،

wa aw-zia'-neee an uth-neea bimaaa aw-lay-taneeh

321.and inspire me to laud what You hast done for me

وَأَعْتَرِفِ بِمَا أَسْدَيْتَهُ إلَيَّ،

wa aa'-tarifa bimaaa as-day-tahooo ilay

322.and confess to what You hast conferred upon me!

وَاجْعَلْ رَغْبَتِي إلَيْكَ فَوْقَ رَغْبَةِ الْرَّاغِبِينَ،

wa aj-a'r-r-ragh-bateee ilay-ka faw-qa ragh-batir-raaghibeen

323.Place my beseeching You above the beseeching of the beseechers

وَحَمْدِي إيَّاكَ فَوْقَ حَمْدِ الْحَامِدِيْنَ،

wa h'am-deee ee-yaaka faw-qa h'am-dil-h'aamideen

324.and my praise of You above the praise of the praisers!

وَلاَ تَخْذُلْنِي عِنْدَ فاقَتِي إلَيْكَ،

wa laa takh-d'ul-nee i'nda faaqateee ilay-k

325.Abandon me not with my neediness for You,

وَلاَ تُهْلِكْنِي بِمَا أَسْدَيْتُهُ إلَيْكَ،

wa laa tuh-lik-nee bimaaa as-day-tuhooo ilay-k

326.destroy me not for what I have done for You,

وَلاَ تَجْبَهْنِي بِمَا جَبَهْتَ بِهِ لْمَعَانِدِينَ لَكَ،

wa laa taj-bah-nee bimaa jabah-ta bihil-mua'anideena laka

327.and slap not my brow with that with which You slappest the brow of those who contend with You,

فَإنِّي لَكَ مُسَلِّمٌ، أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ الْحُجَّةَ لَكَ،

fa in-nee laka musal-lim aa'-lamu an-nal-h'uj-jata lak

328.for I am submitted to You. I know that the argument is Thine,

وَأَنَّكَ أَوْلَى بِالْفَضْلِ، وَأَعْوَدُ بِالاحْسَانِ،

wa an-naka aw-laa bil-faz''-l wa aa'-wadu bil-ih'-saan

329.that You art closest to bounty, most accustomed to beneficence,

وَأَهْلُ التَّقْوَى، وَأَهْلُ الْمَغْفِرَةِ،

wa ah-lut-taq-waa wa ah-lul-magh-firah

330."worthy of reverent fear, and worthy of forgiveness" (75:56),

وَأَنَّكَ بِأَنْ تَعْفُوَ أَوْلَى مِنْكَ بِأَنْ تُعَاقِبَ،

wa an-naka bi n taa'-fuwa aw-laa minka bi n tua'aqib

331.that You art closer to pardoning than to punishing,

وَأَنَّكَ بِأَنْ تَسْتُرَ أَقْرَبُ مِنْكَ إلَى أنْ تَشْهَرَ،

wa an-naka bi n tas-tura aq-rabu minka ilaaa an tash-har

332.and that You art nearer to covering over than to making notorious!

فَأَحْيِنِي حَياةً طَيِّبَةً تَنْتَظِمُ بِما أُرِيدُ

faah'-yinee h'ayaatan t'ay-yibah tantaz'imu bimaaa ureed

333.Let me live an agreeable life that will tie together what I want

وَتَبْلُغُ مَا أُحِبُّ مِنْ حَيْثُ لاَ آتِي مَا تَكْرَهُ

wa tab-lughu maaa uh'ib-bu min h'ay-thu laaa aaatee maa tak-rah

334.and reach what I love while I not bring what You dislikest

وَلاَ أَرْتَكِبُ مَا نَهَيْتَ عَنْهُ،

wa laaa ar-takibu maa nahay-ta a'n-h

335.and not commit what You hast prohibited;

وَأَمِتْنِي مِيْتَةَ مَنْ يَسْعَى نُورُهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ، وَعَنْ يِمِيِنهِ،

wa amit-nee meetata may-yas-a'a nooruhoo bay-na yaday-hee waa'y-yameenih

336.and make me die the death of him whose light runs before him and on his right hand!

وَذَلِّلْنِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ، وَأَعِزَّنِيْ عِنْدَ خَلْقِكَ،

wa d'al-lil-nee bay-na yaday-k wa ai'z-zanee i'nda khal-qik

337.Abase me before Yourself and exalt me before Your creatures,

وَضَعْنِي إذَا خَلَوْتُ بِكَ، وَارْفَعْنِي بَيْنَ عِبادِكَ،

wa z''aa'-neee id'aa khalaw-tu bik war-faa'-nee bay-na i'baadik

338.lower me when I am alone with You and raise me among Your servants,

وَأَغْنِنِي عَمَّنْ هُوَ غَنِيٌّ عَنِّي،

wa agh-ninee a'm-man huwa ghanee-yun a'n-nee

339.free me from need for him who has no need of me

وَزِدْنِي إلَيْكَ فَاقَةً وَفَقْراً،

wa zid-neee ilay-ka faaqataw-wa faq-raa

340.and increase me in neediness and poverty toward You!

وَأَعِذْنِي مِنْ شَمَاتَةِ الاَعْدَاءِ،

wa ai'd'-nee min shamaatatil-aa'-daaa-i

341.Give me refuge from the gloating of enemies,

وَمِنْ حُلُولِ الْبَلاءِ، وَمِنَ الذُّلِّ وَالْعَنَآءِ،

wa min h'uloolil-balaaa-i wa minad'-d'ul-li wal-a'naaa-i

342.the arrival of affliction, lowliness and suffering!

تَغَمَّدني فِيمَا اطَّلَعْتَ عَلَيْهِ مِنِّي

tagham-mad-nee fee mat'-t'alaa'-ta a'lay-hee min-nee

343.Shield me in what You seest from me,

بِمَا يَتَغَمَّدُ بِهِ الْقَادِرُ عَلَى الْبَطْشِ لَوْلاَ حِلْمُهُ،

bimaa yatagham-madu bih al-qaadiru a'laal-bat'-shi lawlaa h'il-muh

344.the shielding of him who would have power over violence had he no clemency,

وَالاخِذُ عَلَى الْجَرِيرَةِ لَوْلاَ أَناتُهُ،

wal-aaakhid'u a'laal-jareerati law-laaa anaatuh

345.and would seize for misdeeds had he no lack of haste!

وَإذَا أَرَدْتَ بِقَوْم فِتْنَةً أَوْ سُوءً فَنَجِّنِي مِنْهَا لِواذاً بِكَ،

wa id'aaa arat-ta biqaw-min fit-natan aw sooo-ana fanaj-jinee min-haa liwaad'am-bik

346.When You desirest for a people a trial or an evil, deliver me from it, for I seek Your shelter;

وَإذْ لَمْ تُقِمْنِي مَقَامَ فَضِيحَة فِي دُنْيَاكَ فَلاَ تُقِمْنِي مِثْلَهُ فِيْ آخِرَتِكَ،

wa id' lam tuqim-nee maqaama faz''eeh'tin fee dunyaaka falaa tuqim-nee mith-lahoo feee aaakhiratik

347.and since You hast not stood me in the station of disgrace in this world of Thine, stand me not in such a station in the next world of Thine!

وَاشْفَعْ لِي أَوَائِلَ مِنَنِكَ بِأَوَاخِرِهَا،

wash-faa' lee awaaa-ila minanika bi waakhirhaa

348.Couple for me the beginnings of Your kindnesses with their ends

وَقَدِيمَ فَوَائِدِكَ بِحَوَادِثِهَا.

wa qadeema fawaaa-idika bih'awaadithihaa

349.and the ancient of Your benefits with the freshly risen!

وَلاَ تَمْدُدْ لِيَ مَدّاً يَقْسُو مَعَهُ قَلْبِي،

wa laa tam-dud lee mad-day-yaq-soo maa'hoo qal-bee

350.Prolong not my term with a prolonging through which my heart will harden!

وَلاَ تَقْرَعْنِي قَارِعَةً يَذْهَبُ لَها بَهَآئِي،

wa laa taq-raa'-nee qaaria'tay-yad'-habu lahaa bahaaa-ee

351.Strike me not with a striking that will take away my radiance!

وَلاَ تَسُمْنِي خَسِيْسَةً يَصْغُرُ لَهَا قَدْرِي،

wa laa tasum-nee khaseesatay-yas'-ghuru lahaa qad-ry

352.Visit me not with a meanness that will diminish my worth

وَلاَ نَقِيصَةً يُجْهَلُ مِنْ أَجْلِهَا مَكَانِي،

wa laa naqees'atay-yuj-halu min aj-lihaa makaanee

353.or a deficiency that will keep my rank unknown!

وَلاَ تَرُعْنِي رَوْعَةً أُبْلِسُ بِها، وَلاَ خِيْفةً أوجِسُ دُونَهَا.

wa laa tarua'-nee raw-a'tan ub-lisu bihaa wa laa kheefatan oojisu doonahaa

354.Frighten me not with a fright by which I will despair or a terror through which I will dread,

اجْعَلْ هَيْبَتِي في وَعِيدِكَ،

ij-a'l hay-batee fee wae'edik

355.but make me stand in awe of Your threat,

وَحَذَرِي مِنْ إعْذارِكَ وَإنْذَارِكَ،

wa h'ad'aree min ia'-d'aarika waand'aarik

356.take precautions against Your leaving no excuses

وَرَهْبَتِي عِنْدَ تِلاَوَةِ آياتِكَ،

wa rah-batee i'nda tilaawati aaayaatik

357.and Your warning, and tremble at the recitation of Your verses!

وَاعْمُرْ لَيْلِي بِإيقَاظِي فِيهِ لِعِبَادَتِكَ،

waa'-mur lay-lee bieeqaaz'ee feehee lii'baadatik

358.Fill my night with life by keeping me awake therein for worshipping You,

وَتَفَرُّدِي بِالتَّهَجُّدِ لَكَ، وَتَجَرُّدِي بِسُكُونِي إلَيْكَ،

wa tafar-rudee bit-tahaj-judi lak wa tajar-rudee bisukooneee ilay-ka

359.solitude with vigil for You, exclusive devotion to reliance upon You,

وَإنْزَالِ حَوَائِجِي بِكَ،

wa inzaali h'awaaa-ijee bik

360.setting my needs before You,

وَمُنَازَلَتِي إيَّاكَ فِي فَكَاكِ رَقَبَتِي مِنْ نَارِكَ،

wa munaazalateee ee-yaak fee fakaaki raqabatee min-naarik

361.and imploring that You wilt set my neck free from the Fire

وَإجَارَتِي مِمَّا فِيهِ أَهْلُهَا مِنْ عَذَابِكَ.

wa ijaaratee mim-maa feeheee ah-luhaa min a'd'aabik

362.and grant me sanctuary from Your chastisement, within which its inhabitants dwell!

وَلاَ تَذَرْنِي فِي طُغْيَانِي عَامِهاً،

wa laa tad'ar-nee fee t'ugh-yaanee a'amihaa

363.Leave me not blindly wandering in my insolence

وَلاَ فِي غَمْرَتِي سَاهِياً حَتَّى حِين،

wa laa fee gham-ratee saaheeana h'at-taa h'een

364.or inattentive in my perplexity for a time,

وَلاَ تَجْعَلْنِي عِظَةً لِمَنِ اتَّعَظَ، وَلاَ نَكَالاً لِمَنِ اعْتَبَرَ،

wa laa taj-a'l-nee i'z'atal-limani at-taa'z' wa laa nakaalal-limani aa'-tabar

365.make me not an admonition to him who takes admonishment, a punishment exemplary for him who takes heed,

وَلاَ فِتْنَةً لِمَن نَظَرَ، وَلاَ تَمْكُرْ بِيَ فِيمَنْ تَمْكُرُ بِهِ،

wa laa fit-natal-liman-naz'ar wa laa tam-kur bee fee man tam-kuru bih

366.a trial for him who observes, devise not against me along with those against whom You devisest,

وَلاَ تَسْتَبْدِلْ بِيَ غَيْرِي، وَلاَ تُغَيِّرْ لِيْ إسْماً،

wa laa tas-tab-dil bee ghay-ree wa laa tughay-yir lee is-maa

367.replace me not with another, change not my name,

وَلاَ تُبدِّلْ لِي جِسْماً، وَلاَ تَتَّخِذْنِي هُزُوَاً لِخَلْقِكَ،

wa laa tubad-dil-lee jis-maa wa laa tat-takhid'-nee huzuwal-likhal-qik

368.transform not my body, appoint me not a mockery for Your creatures,

وَلاَ سُخْرِيّاً لَكَ، وَلاَ تَبَعاً إلاَّ لِمَرْضَاتِكَ،

wa laa sukh-ree-yal-lak wa laa tabaa'naaa il-laa limar-z''aatik

369.a laughing-stock for Yourself, a follower of anything but Your good pleasure,

وَلاَ مُمْتَهَناً إلاَّ بِالانْتِقَامِ لَكَ، وَأَوْجِدْنِي بَرْدَ عَفْوِكَ،

wa laa mum-tahanan il-laa biiantiqaami lak wa aw-jid-nee bar-da a'f-wik

370.a menial servant for anything but avenging You! Let me find the coolness of Your pardon

و حَلاَوَةَ رَحْمَتِكَ وَرَوْحِكَ وَرَيْحَانِكَ وَجَنَّةِ نَعِيْمِكَ،

wa h'alaawata rah'-matik wa raw-h'ika waray-h'aanik wa jan-nati nae'emik

371.and the sweetness of Your mercy, Your repose, Your ease, and the garden of Your bliss!

وَأَذِقْنِي طَعْمَ الْفَرَاغِ لِمَا تُحِبُّ بِسَعَة مِنْ سَعَتِكَ،

wa ad'iq-nee t'aa'-ma al-faraaghi limaa tuh'ib-bu bisaa'tim-min saa'tik

372.Let me taste, through some of Your boundless plenty, the flavour of being free for what You lovest

وَالاجْتِهَادِ فِيمَا يُزْلِفُ لَدَيْكَ وَعِنْدَك،

walij-tihaadi feemaa yuz-lifu laday-ka wa i'ndak

373.and striving in what brings about proximity with You and to You,

وَأَتْحِفْنِي بِتُحْفَة مِنْ تُحَفَاتِكَ،

wa at-h'if-nee bituh'-fatim-min tuh'ufaatik

374.and give me a gift from among Your gifts!

وَاجْعَلْ تِجَارَتِي رَابِحَةً، وَكَرَّتِي غَيْرَ خَاسِرَة،

waj-a'l tijaaratee raabih'ah wa kar-ratee ghay-ra khaasirah

375.Make my commerce profitable and my return without loss,

وَأَخِفْنِي مَقَامَكَ، وَشَوِّقْنِي لِقاءَكَ،

wa akhif-nee maqaamak wa shaw-wiq-nee liqaaa-ak

376.fill me with fear of Your station, make me yearn for the meeting with You,

وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ تَوْبَةً نَصُوحاً لاَ تُبْقِ مَعَهَا ذُنُوباً صِغِيرَةً وَلا كَبِيرَةً،

wa tub a'lay-ya taw-batan-nas'ooh'aa laa tub-qi maa'haa d'unoobana s'agheerataw-wa laa kabeerah

377.and allow me to repent with an unswerving repentance along with which You lettest no sins remain, small or large,

وَلاَ تَذَرْ مَعَهَا عَلاَنِيَةً وَلاَ سَرِيرَةً،

wa laa tad'ar maa'haa a'laaneeataw-wa laa sareerah

378.and leavest no wrongs, open or secret!

وَانْزَعِ الْغِلَّ مِنْ صَدْرِي لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ،

wanzai'l-ghil-la min s'ad-ree lil-moo-mineen

379.Root out rancour toward the faithful from my breast,

وَاعْطِفْ بِقَلْبِي عَلَى الْخَاشِعِيْنَ،

wa aa'-t'if biqal-bee a'laal-khaashie'en

380.bend my heart toward the humble,

وَكُنْ لِي كَمَا تَكُونُ لِلصَّالِحِينَ،

wa kul-lee kamaa takoonu lils'-s'aalih'een

381.be toward me as You art toward the righteous,

وَحَلِّنِي حِلْيَةَ الْمُتَّقِينَ،

wa h'al-linee h'il-yatal-mut-taqeen

382.adorn me with the adornment of the godfearing,

وَاجْعَلْ لِيَ لِسَانَ صِدْق فِي الْغَابِرِيْنَ،

waj-a'l-lee lisaana s'id-qin fil-ghaabireen

383.appoint for me a goodly report among those yet to come

وَذِكْراً نامِياً فِي الاخِرِينَ، وَوَافِ بِيَ عَرْصَةَ الاَوَّلِينَ،

wa d'ik-ran-naameeana fil-akhireen wa waafi bee a'r-s'atal-aw-waleen

384.and a growing remembrance among the later folk, and take me to the plain of those who came first!

وَتَمِّمْ سُبُوغَ نِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ، وَظَاهِرْ كَرَامَاتِهَا لَدَيَّ،

wa tam-mim suboogha nia'-matika a'lay wa z'aahir karaamaatihaa laday

385.Complete the lavishness of Your favour upon me, clothe me in its repeated generosities,

و امْلاْ مِنْ فَوَائِدِكَ يَدَيَّ، وَسُقْ كَرَائِمَ مَوَاهِبِكَ إلَيَّ،

wam-laa min fawaaa-idika yaday wa suq k-karaaa-ima mawaahibika ilay

386.fill my hand with Your benefits, drive Your generous gifts to me,

وَجَاوِرْ بِيَ الاَطْيَبِينَ مِنْ أَوْلِيَآئِكَ

wa jaawir beeal-at'-yabeena min aw-leeaaa-ika

387.make me the neighbour of the best of Your friends

فِي الْجِنَاْنِ الَّتِي زَيَّنْتَهَا لاَِصْفِيآئِكَ،

fil-jinaanil-latee zay-yantahaa lias'-feeaaa-ik

388.in the Gardens which You hast adorned for Your chosen

وَجَلِّلْنِي شَرَآئِفَ نِحَلِكَ فِي الْمَقَامَاتِ الْمُعَدَّةِ لاَِحِبَّائِكَ،

wa jal-lil-nee sharaaa-ifa nih'alika fil-maqaamaatil-mua'd-dati liah'ib-baaa-ik

389.and wrap me in Your noble presents in the stations prepared for Your beloveds!

وَاجْعَلْ لِيَ عِنْدَكَ مَقِيْلاً آوِي إلَيْهِ مُطْمَئِنّاً،

waj-a'l-lee i'ndak maqeelan aaaweee ilay-hee mut'-ma-in-naa

390.Appoint for me a resting place with You where I may seek haven in serenity,

وَمَثابَةً أَتَبَوَّأُهَا وَأَقَرُّ عَيْناً.

wa mathaabatan atabaw-wu-uhaa wa aqar-ru a'y-naa

391.and a resort to which I may revert and rest my eyes,

وَلاَ تُقَايِسْنِي بِعَظِيمَاتِ الْجَرَائِرِ،

wa laa tuqaayis-nee bia'z'eemaatil-jaraaa-ir

392.weigh not against me my dreadful misdeeds,

وَلاَ تُهْلِكْنِي يَوْمَ تُبْلَى السَّرَائِرُ،

wa laa tuh-lik-nee yaw-ma tub-laas-saraaa-ir

393.destroy me not on "the day the secrets are tried" (86:9),

وَأَزِلْ عَنِّي كُلَّ شَكٍّ وَشُبْهَة،

wa azil a'n-nee kul-la shak-kiw-washub-hah

394.eliminate from me every doubt and uncertainty,

وَاجْعَلْ لِي فِي الْحَقِّ طَرِيقاً مِنْ كُلِّ رَحْمَة،

waj-a'l-lee fil-h'aq-qi t'areeqam-min kul-li rah'-mah

395.appoint for me a way in the truth from every mercy,

وأَجْزِلْ لِي قِسَمَ الْمَواهِبِ مِنْ نَوَالِكَ،

wa aj-zil-lee qisamal-mawaahibi min-nawaalik

396.make plentiful for me the portions of gifts from Your granting of awards,

وَوَفِّرْ عَلَيَّ حُظُوظَ الاِحْسَانِ مِنْ إفْضَالِكَ،

wa waf-fir a'lay-ya h'uz'ooz'al-ih'-saani min if-z''aalik

397.and fill out for me the shares of beneficence from Your bestowal of bounty!

وَاجْعَلْ قَلْبِي وَاثِقاً بِمَا عِنْدَكَ،

waj-a'l qal-bee waathiqam-bimaa i'ndak

398.Make my heart trust in what is with You

وَهَمِّيَ مُسْتَفْرَغاً لِمَا هُوَ لَكَ،

wa ham-mee mus-taf-raghal-limaa huwa lak

399.and my concern free for what is Thine,

وَاسْتَعْمِلْنِي بِما تَسْتَعْمِلُ بِهِ خَالِصَتَكَ،

was-taa'-mil-nee bimaa tas-taa'-milu bihee khaalis'atak

400.employ me in that in which You employest Your pure friends,

وَأَشْرِبْ قَلْبِي عِنْدَ ذُهُولِ العُقُولِ طَاعَتَكَ،

wa ash-rib qal-bee i'nda d'uhoolil-u'qwli t'aaa'taka

401.drench my heart with Your obedience when intellects are distracted,

وَاجْمَعْ لِي الْغِنى، وَالْعَفَافَ، وَالدَّعَةَ، وَالْمُعَافَاةَ،

waj-maa' leea al-ghinaa wal-a'faaf wad-daa'ta wal-mua'afaah

402.and combine within me independence, continence, ease, release,

وَالصِّحَّةَ، وَالسَّعَةَ، وَالطُّمَأْنِيْنَةَ، وَالْعَافِيَةَ،

was'-s'ih'-h'ata was-saa'h wat'-t'umaa-neenata wal-a'afeeah

403.health, plenty, tranquillity, and well being!

وَلاَ تُحْبِطْ حَسَنَاتِي بِمَا يَشُوبُهَا مِنْ مَعْصِيَتِكَ،

wa laa tuh'-bit' h'asanaatee bimaa yashoobuhaa mim-maa'-s'eeatik

404.Make not fail my good deeds through my disobedience that stains them

وَلاَ خَلَواتِي بِمَا يَعْرِضُ لِيَ مِنْ نَزَغَاتِ فِتْنَتِكَ،

wa laa khalawaatee bimaa yaa'-riz''u lee min-nazaghaati fit-natik

405.or my private times of worship through the instigations of Your trial!

وَصُنْ وَجْهِي عَنِ الطَّلَبِ إلَى أَحَد مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ،

wa s'oo-waj-hee a'nit'-t'alabi ilaaa ah'adim-minal-a'alameen

406.Safeguard my face from asking from anyone in the world,

وَذُبَّنِي عَنِ التِماسِ مَا عِنْدَ الفَاسِقِينَ،

wa d'ub-banee a'nil-timaasi maa i'ndal-faasiqeen

407.and drive me far from begging for that which is with the ungodly!

وَلاَ تَجْعَلْنِي لِلظَّالِمِينَ ظَهِيراً،

wa laa taj-a'l-nee lilz'-z'aalimeena z'aheeraa

408.Make me not an aid to the wrongdoers,

وَلاَ لَهُمْ عَلى مَحْوِ كِتَابِكَ يَداً وَنَصِيراً،

wa laa lahum a'laa mah'-wi kitaabika yadaw-wa nas'eeraa

409.nor their hand and helper in erasing Your Book!

وَحُطْنِي مِنْ حَيْثُ لاَ أَعْلَمُ حِيَاطَةً تَقِيْنِي بِهَا،

wa h'ut'-nee min h'ay-thu laaa aa'-lamu h'eeaat'atan taqeenee bihaa

410.Defend me whence I know not with a defense through which You protectest me!

وَافْتَحْ لِيَ أَبْوَابَ تَوْبَتِكَ وَرَحْمَتِكَ وَرَأْفَتِكَ وَرِزْقِكَ الواسِعِ،

waf-tah' leee ab-waaba taw-batika wa rah'-matika wa raa-fatika wa riz-qikal-waasia'

411.Open toward me the gates of Your repentance, Your mercy, Your clemency, and Your boundless provision!

إنِّي إلَيْكَ مِنَ الرَّاغِبِينَ،

in-neee ilay-ka minar-raaghibeen

412.Surely I am one of those who beseech You!

وَأَتْمِمْ لِي إنْعَامَكَ، إنَّكَ خَيْرُ الْمُنْعِمِيْنَ،

wa at-mim leee in-a'amaka in-naka khay-rul-mun-i'meen

413.And complete Your favour toward me! Surely You art the best of those who show favour!

وَاجْعَلْ باقِيَ عُمْرِيْ فِي الْحَجِّ وَالْعُمْرَةِ

waj-a'l baaqeea u'm-ree fil-h'aj-ji wal-u'm-rati

414.Place the rest of my life in the hajj and the 'umra

ابْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِكَ يَاربَّ الْعَالَمِينَ،

ab-tighaaa-a waj-hika yaa rab-bal-a'alameen

415.seeking Your face, O Lord of the worlds!

وَصَلَّى اللهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ الطَّيِّبِينَ الطَّاهِرِينَ،

wa s'al-laal-laahoo a'laa muh'am-madiw-wa aaalihit'-t'ay-yibeenat'-t'aahireen

416.And may God bless Muhammad and his Household, the good, the pure,

وَالسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَيْهِمْ أَبَدَ الابِدِينَ.

was-salaamu a'lay-hee wa a'lay-him abadal-aaabideen

417.and peace be upon him and them always and forever!
